Chapter 928

Uncle Qu Zhong deeply admired Zhu Yanyi’s method of self-cultivation. She did not worry that her little junior sister would lack effort; instead, she worried she might work too hard.

"Since that is the case, Third Brother and I will return. Fifth Brother will stay to help the little junior sister," Qu Zhong decided quickly. she then turned to Dong Bocao. "You are staying to assist and protect the little junior sister. If a single hair on her head is harmed, we will hold you responsible."

Dong Bocao immediately made a reassuring face. "Second Senior Brother, rest assured. I will protect every single hair on the little junior sister." He even added a military salute.

With the decision made, the senior brothers and junior sister began their arrangements.

The next day, Zhu Yanyi started preparing medicine. Kael, hearing that Zhu Yanyi had found the cause of the illness, came over out of curiosity. The International Medical Association had used their most advanced testing instruments but failed to identify the cause. She was skeptical that a young girl from China could succeed where they had failed.

"Miss Zhu," Kael said as he arrived. He saw Zhu Yanyi and Dong Bocao cleaning seaweed. Yan Aohan had left early with others to gather more seaweed.

Zhu Yanyi looked at Kael with slight surprise. "Mr. Kael, why are you here? Is there something you need?"

Kael shook his head quickly. "I have a small matter. I heard you found the cause of the illness. Could you explain what disease the villagers on this island are suffering from?"

Zhu Yanyi tilted her head, looking at her, but her hands did not stop working. She smiled. "That is possible. But Mr. Kael, you must help me here. You need to crush this moss for me." She handed her a mortar and pestle to grind the herbs.

Kael did not refuse. In their eyes, they were all healers, and it was natural for healers to help each other. While Kael ground the herbs, Zhu Yanyi began filtering the medicinal juice.

As she filtered, Zhu Yanyi asked, "Mr. Kael, do you know about Traditional Chinese Medicine?"

"Of course. It is your Chinese medical art. I heard you can tell if someone is sick just by holding their hand," Kael said with a smile. Chinese medicine always seemed so mysterious to him, beyond the scope of science.

"It is not that magical," Dong Bocao laughed while washing the seaweed. "That is pulse diagnosis, not shaking hands."

"Oh," Kael smiled. "Chinese medicine is too mystical for me to understand fully. But I know it has a long history and is part of your cultural heritage."

"Mr. Kael speaks well," Zhu Yanyi said with a faint smile. "The ancestors of the villagers on this island were originally from Shandong Province in China. They came here for some reason, intending to live in seclusion. They did not expect to fall ill."

"Does this illness have anything to do with Chinese medicine?" Kael asked, confused.

Zhu Yanyi nodded, her work continuing without pause. "In Western fairy tales, witches are often the opposite of fairies. But in China, a 'Wu' is a very mysterious and capable person. Becoming a Wu requires many strict conditions. If a Wu knows medicine, they are called a Wu Yi, or shaman-healer." Zhu Yanyi explained simply, knowing Kael would understand.

Kael understood immediately. Hearing this, he realized the connection. "Could this illness be related to a shaman-healer?"
