Chapter 1694
Zhu Yanyi knew in her heart that the hospital she had long planned to establish was finally on the agenda. Therefore, one of the purposes of her upcoming travels was to personally select excellent doctors to become teachers at her school.
Since Zhu Yanyi intended to take on students, she naturally needed to inform her three current pupils first. After visiting three patients at the hospital, she asked Hun Junlan, Miao Pu, and An Xuebin to stay behind.
Zhu Yanyi looked at the three of them. "Junlan, Miao Pu, Xuebin, do you know why I asked you to stay?"
The three exchanged glances and shook their heads in unison, indicating they did not know Zhu Yanyi’s intentions.
Zhu Yanyi smiled slightly. "I won’t beat around the bush. Last time, you told me you wanted to be my students. I originally planned to observe you for a while. However, many things have happened recently, and my workload has increased. Moreover, I plan to travel soon. Will you follow me?"
Upon hearing this, the three understood Zhu Yanyi’s meaning. Their eyes filled with surprise as they looked at her, seemingly wanting confirmation.
Zhu Yanyi did not hide her thoughts. "Do you still want to be my students? Being my student is hard. My students cannot just follow me to study in one fixed hospital, nor can they enjoy various benefits. Instead, you may have to experience wind, frost, snow, and rain with me. I might even send you alone to harsh places for internships. Do you still want to be my students under these conditions?"
"Yes." The three answered in unison, without a hint of hesitation. For them, studying under Zhu Yanyi was a precious opportunity.
Seeing their firm answers, a smile appeared on Zhu Yanyi’s face. "Since that is the case, you are my students from now on."
"Yes, Teacher." The three’s faces were full of joy. They then bowed deeply to Zhu Yanyi.
Zhu Yanyi smiled. "Although I am not taking formal apprentices for now, students are considered my registered disciples. Therefore, come to my place tomorrow to go through the proper procedures."
"Yes, Teacher." The three knew this was necessary. A proper student relationship required more than just a verbal address.
Zhu Yanyi smiled again. "You are of similar ages, so let’s rank you by birth date."
Among the three, Miao Pu was the oldest, An Xuebin the youngest, and Hun Junlan in between. After understanding this, Zhu Yanyi said, "Go home early today to prepare. Come to this address tomorrow." She gave them the address and let them leave.
After sending them off, Zhu Yanyi returned home and told Yan Aohan about taking on students.
Yan Aohan was not surprised. "I remember Hun Junlan was a classmate of yours from your middle school days. Didn’t she ask for your help back then?"
Zhu Yanyi nodded with a smile. "Exactly. Now it’s good that she wants to become my student."
"That is fine. As long as their character is good, I have no objections." Yan Aohan had no issue with Zhu Yanyi taking students. He understood her reasons. Taking students now was the best approach. As for formal apprentices, it would be nearly impossible to find a suitable one in this realm.
The next day, Zhu Yanyi was on leave at home. Hun Junlan and the other two arrived early at the courtyard house according to the address.
Zhu Yanyi had already notified Gu Jingtian and Dong Bo Cao in the capital to attend the ceremony. Qu Zhong was away in the Miao region, so she was not present.
They were not surprised by Zhu Yanyi’s decision to take students. Having met Hun Junlan and the others, they knew these three were decent individuals, so they readily agreed.
Zhu Yanyi smiled when she saw them. "You are here."
"Hello, Teacher." The three respectfully addressed Zhu Yanyi. Hun Junlan, in particular, was very natural. Zhu Yanyi had worried about the transition from friend to student, but Hun Junlan’s ease showed her strong desire for medical knowledge and good character. Zhu Yanyi nodded with satisfaction.
"Good. Since everyone is here, let’s begin."
Zhu Yanyi sat in the main seat. Miao Pu, Hun Junlan, and An Xuebin presented tea and kowtowed to her in order.
This was the custom for taking students. Of course, taking formal apprentices would be much more complex. Since these were students, the rules were simpler.
Zhu Yanyi accepted the tea from each and took a sip.
Then, she took out three medical kits and distributed them. "You are my students, and thus my registered disciples. As your teacher, I do not have much to give, so I present each of you with a medical kit containing a set of silver needles. I hope you can travel the world with these kits and needles. As doctors, we must be responsible for our patients. I hope you will uphold this principle in the future."
"We will strictly follow your teachings," the three said in unison.
Zhu Yanyi smiled and pointed to Gu Jingtian and Dong Bo Cao. "Go meet your Eldest Senior Uncle and Fifth Senior Uncle. I have five senior brothers. Currently, only your Eldest and Fifth Senior Uncles are in the capital. The others are away. You will meet them when the opportunity arises."
Since this was for students, not all members needed to be present. Otherwise, even Yu Qingyun at the border would have to rush over. This showed how complex and strict the requirements for formal apprentices were.
Miao Pu and the others also kowtowed to Gu Jingtian and Dong Bo Cao. Since they had their own students, they knew the proper etiquette.
Gu Jingtian gave a gift to each of the three and sighed emotionally. "I never thought my little junior sister would be taking students. Time flies so fast."
Zhu Yanyi looked at Gu Jingtian with a mix of amusement and exasperation. "My taking students makes you so emotional? What will you do if I take a formal apprentice? Will you cry bitterly?"
Gu Jingtian paused, realizing that might be true.
Zhu Yanyi then introduced Yan Aohan to Miao Pu and the others. "This is my fiancé. You can call him Senior Uncle."
"Hello, Senior Uncle," the three said directly.
"Actually, I think you should call me Grand-Uncle," Yan Aohan said slowly from the side.
Zhu Yanyi glanced at Yan Aohan. "In such a hurry to be Grand-Uncle?"
"Absolutely. Titles are important, as you know. Call him Grand-Uncle," Yan Aohan insisted rarely.
Fortunately, Miao Pu and the others were quick-witted. Seeing Yan Aohan’s insistence, they quickly changed their address to Grand-Uncle.
Yan Aohan handed each of them a red envelope, which appeared to contain a substantial amount.
Zhu Yanyi found it rare to see Yan Aohan being so willful. She just smiled silently and raised no objection.
