Chapter 116: Jogging Exercise

Zhu Yanyi rarely offered an explanation, but she knew Yan Aohan was genuinely concerned. Since she cared, she wouldn’t be stubborn and claim she didn’t need it. In relationships, status differences shouldn’t create barriers. Instead, one should find common ground to make interactions comfortable.

Yan Aohan needed a month here to heal. If Zhu Yanyi constantly clashed with him, she wouldn’t be a good doctor. A good physician must also understand psychology.

Yan Aohan accepted her explanation. "I saw you exercising early this morning."

"Yes," Zhu Yanyi nodded. "Grandpa Chun assigned me to exercise from five to seven every morning. My health was poor when I was little, but it improved greatly after I started exercising last November. So, I will keep exercising even if Grandpa Chun doesn’t assign it."

Yan Aohan thought for a moment. "I will exercise with you tomorrow morning."

Zhu Yanyi paused briefly. Yan Aohan’s body was stable enough for jogging and Tai Chi. Therefore, she happily agreed to his request.

Before five o’clock the next morning, Yan Aohan was already waiting at the door for Zhu Yanyi. Zhang Haifeng, who was with him, had also woken up early. "Why are you two up so early?"

"Morning exercise," Yan Aohan replied, looking at Zhang Haifeng, who was yawning repeatedly. "If you are tired, you can go back to sleep." He added, "After we return to the capital, your training time will be doubled."

Zhang Haifeng was initially happy, thinking Yan Aohan was being generous. However, the second half of the sentence turned his joy to ash. He said weakly, "Thank you. I will join the morning exercise instead."

Zhu Yanyi ignored their interaction. "We will jog for half an hour first, then go to Grandpa Chun’s place for Tai Chi."

"Good," Yan Aohan nodded. After taking the herbal soup twice yesterday, he felt much lighter overnight. This proved Zhu Yanyi’s medicine was very effective. No wonder she said three days would be enough.

Zhu Yanyi led Yan Aohan and Zhang Haifeng in a slow jog. They followed the path around the triangular terrain. Exiting from the middle path led directly to a main road.

In this era, bicycles were rare on the roads, let alone cars. The only cars visible were the buses from Sicheng Town. There were four public buses in Sicheng Town: one to Yong City, one to Yao City, one to Shao City, and one to Ci City. Each bus made only one round trip daily, departing around five in the morning and returning around five in the evening. If one wanted to go elsewhere, they could buy tickets at the station, as buses from Yong City to other cities passed through Sicheng Town.

Seeing cars in the countryside was difficult. So, Zhu Yanyi ran east along the road. After ten minutes, there was a fork. Entering the fork led back to the original path toward the elders’ residence. Each side took about ten minutes to jog, making the half-hour loop complete.

Of course, at Yan Aohan’s normal speed, this distance would take less than five minutes. However, Zhu Yanyi specified "slow jogging." Since she was small and had short strides, it was truly a slow jog.
