Chapter 164: Tang Xue’s Letter from Home

"I heard Yan Aohan say your cooking is excellent," the old man said with a warm smile. "So, cook for me tomorrow. I will invite those old stubborn ones over."

Since they were leaving soon, the location of the gathering mattered little. She mostly wanted to cheer Zhu Yanyi up.

"Okay. I will tell my Grandpa to come too. Also, please ask my Uncle to visit my home. I will stay here with Grandpa Yao tonight. I can buy groceries early tomorrow morning," Zhu Yanyi said, sharing her plan with Grandpa Yao.

Grandpa Yao nodded. "Good."

Zhu Yanyi went to the Xie house and told Xie Zhong. Xie Zhong sighed with emotion. "It is good. It would be a pity if their knowledge was buried here. The outside world is their true stage. I will definitely come tomorrow."

After years of friendship, Xie Zhong naturally wanted to see his friends off.

Zhu Yanyi asked her Second Uncle, Xie Shengyu, to visit her home. She explained she would not return tonight but stay with Grandpa Yao. Zhu Shunyao trusted Grandpa Yao and the other elders, so she did not worry much.

The next morning, Zhu Yanyi woke up very early. She planned to go to the market. As she stepped out the door, she saw Zhang Haifeng. She did not care why she was there.

"I need someone to carry my groceries. Come, help me quickly," she said, shoving a basket into Zhang Haifeng’s hands and pulling her along.

Zhang Haifeng paused, then smiled helplessly. "Am I here to be a laborer?"

Zhu Yanyi glanced at her. "Or do you think you are here to enjoy life?"

Zhang Haifeng walked beside her, arguing unhappily. "I am here to welcome the elders back to the capital."

"Yes. You welcome them. I see them off. So I need to prepare a farewell banquet. What is wrong with you carrying my basket? If you don't, I will tell Grandpa Yao you bullied me," Zhu Yanyi said with a shameless and threatening expression.

Zhang Haifeng was speechless. She knew she could never win an argument with Zhu Yanyi. Arguing with her was only causing herself trouble. She comforted herself, thinking she was just indulging a child.

Zhu Yanyi did not care about Zhang Haifeng’s mood. She led him to the market. Grandpa Yao’s house was a fifteen-minute walk from the market. The economy was recovering, so the market was busy. Many people came early with vegetables and fruits they grew themselves.

Zhu Yanyi came from a farming family. She knew how to pick fresh vegetables. Besides, she had memories of over fifty years from her past life.

Since it was a farewell meal for the elders, Zhu Yanyi was careful with her choices. She bought less meat and more fish. Sicheng Town belonged to Yong City, a coastal city with a long history of seafood. So, fresh seafood was available in Sicheng Town too.

Zhu Yanyi bought hairtail, yellow croaker, and starry conger eels. She also bought chicken, duck, and beef, along with some vegetables.

Zhang Haifeng felt like a true laborer. After delivering the groceries to the destination, he panted heavily. It was too tiring.

Zhu Yanyi looked at Zhang Haifeng with disdain and shook her head. "You are young, yet you have less strength than a child like me."

The problem was she was only holding one tomato in her hands. Of course, this tomato was for eating directly. That was why she held it. She then tossed it into the basket Zhang Haifeng was carrying.
