Chapter 264: Li Yi’s Plan

Zhu Yanyi’s heart beat wildly. She never expected the Ruyi Space to hold this book. With so many volumes stored there, she had never taken the time to read them properly. She realized she needed to browse through the collection to understand what was available. If she hadn’t decided to relax and picked a book at random, she would have missed this discovery. After a moment’s thought, Zhu Yanyi decided to test it.

Following the instructions in the book, Zhu Yanyi focused her mind. She summoned her wood-type ability and directed it toward a ginseng root. Slowly, the ginseng began to melt and condense, eventually forming a single drop of transparent liquid that hung in the air. Zhu Yanyi quickly took out a small jade bottle and collected the drop of ginseng essence. She brought it to her nose and sniffed gently; the scent of ginseng remained. She dipped a finger into the liquid and touched it to her tongue. A surge of vitality instantly spread through her. Zhu Yanyi raised an eyebrow, her eyes lighting up. This was excellent. With this ability, her skill in making medicine would improve significantly.

Zhu Yanyi could not stay calm after such a discovery. She continued to extract the essence from many other herbs. If she hadn’t heard the alarm clock ringing outside, she would have kept going. She took a deep breath to calm herself, drank a few sips of Spirit Spring water to refresh her mind, and then exited the space.

A faint light was already visible in the sky outside. It was summer, so the days were long. Although it was only 4:30 AM, the dawn had broken. Zhu Yanyi changed into a tracksuit. Even though she was in the capital, she never forgot to exercise. In her previous life, her lack of exercise had led to various illnesses. Now, with a healthy body, she cherished it deeply.

The others were still asleep. As Zhu Yanyi walked out of her room and closed the door, she saw Yan Aohan’s door open. Yan Aohan stepped out in athletic wear, with a towel draped around his neck. He was also preparing for an early morning workout.

“Let’s go together,” Yan Aohan said. He paused slightly upon seeing Zhu Yanyi, but his tone allowed no refusal.

“Okay,” Zhu Yanyi replied. She had often run morning exercises with her and Hai Feng in Sizhen Town before, so exercising together now felt natural to her.

The two went outside and began jogging. Morning exercise was not a race; the main goal was to build fitness. Therefore, Zhu Yanyi and Yan Aohan did not run fast, but their pace was steady. Watching Zhu Yanyi’s running speed, Yan Aohan smiled. “Seeing you run like this reminds me of five years ago, when you led me and Hai Feng on our morning runs.”

Back then, Zhu Yanyi did not run as gracefully as she did now. She was small, with short steps. Yan Aohan and Zhang Hai Feng had to adjust their pace to match hers. Hearing this, Zhu Yanyi laughed. “Even though I was young, I was very persistent.”

“I can see that,” Yan Aohan agreed, nodding. “I just mean that when you were young, your steps were small, which made us feel frustrated while running. Running with you now feels much better.”

Zhu Yanyi glanced at Yan Aohan. “Short legs, short steps. Nothing I could do about it.” She added, “Besides, I am a doctor. The speed I set is the most suitable. You just had to cooperate.”

Yan Aohan looked at Zhu Yanyi, feeling a bit speechless. “Don’t you think that was a bit of intentional troublemaking?”

Zhu Yanyi tilted her head and smiled. “I did it on purpose.” She raised an eyebrow.

Yan Aohan was left speechless, torn between laughter and frustration. “Fine. I have no argument. You are the boss, so you decide.”
