Chapter 540: Then We Won’t Split Up!

"Okay, Yanli. Remember to keep in touch when you have time."

Three years of high school were ending, and though there was a tinge of reluctance to part, everyone had their own future. Today’s separation was inevitable.

"Sister, how did the exams feel these past few days?"

July 8th and 9th were the Gaokao dates. For the candidates, it was a test of endurance. Thinking about it, students in later eras were quite lucky. Their exams started earlier, so they wouldn’t suffer through such intense heat.

"It was okay. I used the refreshing essential oil you prepared for me every afternoon. It kept me cool and clear-headed all day. My roommates even borrowed some and said it was great." Zhu Yanli smiled. "The exam questions weren’t hard this year, so I think I’ll be fine."

Zhu Yanyi knew that Zhu Yanli had already started self-studying university-level courses. While she wasn’t as brilliant as Yanyi, she was steady and solid. "Actually, I knew you’d be fine the moment you passed the interview."

Music conservatories required interviews. Music was an art form, and appearance mattered too. Zhu Yanli looked good and had excellent musical sense, so her interview score was high—exactly ninety out of one hundred.

Zhu Yanli smiled slightly. "By the way, Ani, when are you and Doumiao going to Shanghai?"

"We picked you up today. We’ll rest at home tomorrow, and we’ll leave for Shanghai the day after. The summer camp starts on the fourteenth." Zhu Yanyi answered with a smile.

Yan Aohan didn’t speak. He simply loaded Zhu Yanli’s luggage into the car. Zhu Yanli sat in the back seat, while Zhu Yanyi remained in the front passenger seat.

"Where is Sister Chen Lu?" Zhu Yanyi looked out the window and waved at Chen Lu. Chen Lu came over, got into the back seat, and they all headed home together.

Back home, the atmosphere was joyful. Xie Xinlian was the happiest, enjoying this rare moment of relaxation. She shared some news: "Ani, you can check your scores on the seventeenth. You’ll fill out your college applications on the twentieth. What will you do then?"

Zhu Yanyi would be at the summer camp then, with no time to fill out the forms.

Zhu Yanyi thought for a moment. "Let me think. I’ll give you an answer tomorrow."

Yan Aohan interjected, "You don’t need to worry about that. While you’re at the camp, I’ll make a call for you. You can fill out the forms when you return. It shouldn’t be a problem. But have you decided?"

Yan Aohan was asking if Zhu Yanyi intended to go to Beijing.

Zhu Yanyi pondered again. "I’ve decided." Then she made a funny face. "I’ll give you my answer after I come back from the summer camp."

Her initial "I’ve decided" had raised everyone’s hopes, only for her to follow up with that playful remark. Zhu Yanli couldn’t help but lightly hit Zhu Yanyi. "You’re fourteen and still so playful."

"Yes, yes. Second Sister is even more playful than me. That’s really not right," Zhu Zhibin said with a laugh.

"Hehe. I could have skipped the summer camp. Who do you think I’m busy for?" Zhu Yanyi looked at Zhu Zhibin with a half-smile.

Zhu Zhibin immediately clasped his hands in prayer, begging for mercy. "I was wrong, Second Sister. I shouldn’t have teased you."

"Hmm." Zhu Yanyi rubbed Zhu Zhibin’s head. "Let this be a lesson: never offend a woman."

"No, it should be: never offend Second Sister," Zhu Zhibin said, making another funny face before quickly running away. Everyone laughed, while Zhu Yanyi puffed out her cheeks in mock anger.

Two days later, Zhu Yanyi, Zhu Zhibin, Luo Gang, and Wang Ye boarded the train to Shanghai.
