Chapter 606: Isn’t This Aiding the Enemy?
Yan Aohan did not dwell on that topic for long. He knew when to stop. Flirting was necessary, and he could tease her whenever he had time, but dragging it out too long would only scare her. That would be a loss for him. So, he chuckled and changed the subject.
"Alright. I’ll handle things here for the next couple of days, then take you and your brother back to Sicheng Town. While we’re there, I’ll have people in the capital sort out your schooling. Your sister has no trouble getting into the Conservatory of Music; I’ll have someone pick up her acceptance notice directly. As for you, it’s a transfer. Since you ranked first in the entire Yong City in the high school entrance exam, transferring will be easy. The only issue is your household registration. I’ll have people process your capital hukou and transfer it directly under my name."
Zhu Yanyi’s exam scores were already out. Every high school in Yong City wanted her, but they were destined to be disappointed.
"Cough, cough, wait, wait, wait." Zhu Yanyi took a sip of milk and nearly sprayed it across the room. "Why does my hukou have to be transferred to your name?" She looked at Yan Aohan with curiosity, having never heard of such a thing.
"Isn’t that inevitable?" Yan Aohan acted as if she was making a mountain out of a molehill. Transferring her hukou to his seemed perfectly normal to him.
"Even if I can transfer it, does your hukou allow it?" Zhu Yanyi realized she was walking a path she never expected. In her past life, her hukou had never left Sicheng Town.
"So you’re worried my family has too many people?" Yan Aohan pretended not to understand her concern. "Don’t worry. My parents are very open-minded. It’s not just me. Among my four siblings, except for my third sister who moved hers out after marriage, my eldest brother, second brother, and I were each given our own separate hukou by our father when we turned eighteen. He said we should forge our own careers. The Yan family only provides a platform. So, my hukou has only me. When you come, you’ll be the second. Later, when we form a family and have children, they’ll be the third."
"Stop." Zhu Yanyi hurriedly called halt. If she didn’t stop her now, who knew what she would say next? She might even talk about partners for their future children, or even grandchildren.
Yan Aohan’s lips curled up slightly. "Rest assured, my hukou is absolutely open to you. We’re close, aren’t we? Just come to my hukou boldly and without worry."
Zhu Yanyi looked at Yan Aohan, amused and exasperated. "Why do I need to transfer my hukou? I just want to ask this one question." Why did he have to complicate such a simple matter? Was he really aging prematurely?
"Because only then will your information not appear in public records. Others won’t have any chance to find your roots." Yan Aohan’s expression turned serious. He knew that once the hukou was transferred, Zhu Yanyi would truly become independent. But this was a step everyone had to take. Separating the hukou meant her data would be truly hidden. Over time, all traces of her in Sicheng Town would slowly disappear.
Zhu Yanyi sighed. "Actually, I know that after I take the college entrance exam in three years and enter university, my hukou will need to be transferred anyway. But I still feel a bit reluctant."
