Chapter 809: Don’t Let the Character Collapse!
Zhu Yanyi spent the entire night in the laboratory. When Yan Aohan emerged from his study the next morning, he discovered she was still there. He frowned slightly, walked into the lab, and saw the box of refined essence. Seeing Zhu Yanyi’s excited face, he grew displeased.
"Ani, do you know what time it is?"
"What time?" Zhu Yanyi asked, distracted. She glanced at her watch instinctively. "5:40. It’s only 5:40. Wait, that’s wrong. We finished eating after five."
"Ani, are you confused? It is 5:40 in the morning of the second day." Yan Aohan was angry. He stepped forward directly. "Stop what you are doing. Go to sleep. If you don’t sleep, I will throw away everything you have refined."
Hearing this, Zhu Yanyi panicked. "No, no, no! Don’t throw it away. This is what Second Senior Brother needs. If you throw it out, you will harm the people around us."
Seeing Yan Aohan’s expression darken, she hurriedly added, "Okay, okay, I know I was wrong. I just forget the time when I work. I don’t believe you rested last night either."
Yan Aohan paused. He had been busy handling documents all night, so he hadn’t rested at all.
Emboldened, Zhu Yanyi said, "See? You didn’t rest either. You can’t allow officials to start fires but forbid commoners to light lamps."
Yan Aohan glared at Zhu Yanyi. "My body is better than yours. If your internal energy could compare to mine, maybe."
"You are cheating," Zhu Yanyi retorted, unconvinced. "I don’t even know how deep your internal energy is. How can I compare with you?"
"So I can stay up all night, but you cannot," Yan Aohan smiled.
"You can’t just waste your life because you are young. I am a doctor, so I have the final say." Zhu Yanyi’s words sounded a bit willful, but Yan Aohan felt warm inside.
"Since you know you are a doctor, why don’t you think about the fact that you haven’t slept all night?"
Zhu Yanyi was stunned for a moment, then murmured, "Okay, okay, I was wrong, alright? I will go to sleep now." She looked at Yan Aohan. "You go to sleep too."
"Fine, let’s go down together," Yan Aohan chuckled lightly. He wasn’t truly angry; he was just annoyed that Zhu Yanyi did not take good care of her body.
Zhu Yanyi gave a dry, giggling laugh. She pulled Yan Aohan, preparing to leave the lab. Then, remembering the box of poison grass essence, she came back to pack it neatly into the wooden box. She told Yan Aohan, "The fifty kilograms of poison grass essence is ready. It is right here. Have someone send it to Second Senior Brother later."
Yan Aohan glanced at the box, nodded, lifted it, and then pulled Zhu Yanyi down the stairs. He walked her to her room door. "Go inside, take a shower, change clothes, and sleep."
Zhu Yanyi nodded. She hadn’t felt tired before, but after Yan Aohan’s fussing, she realized she was indeed a bit exhausted. She returned to her room, took a shower, and went to sleep.
Zhu Yanyi woke up attracted by a faint, lingering aroma of food. She got up, brushed her teeth, and walked out of her room without changing clothes, wearing only her loungewear. She saw many dishes on the table.
"So fragrant," she said, walking over. On the table were a plate of scrambled eggs with chives, a plate of crab roe tofu, and a plate of spicy chicken wings. Zhu Yanyi’s eyes lit up as she looked at the dishes.
