Chapter 2290

Shangguan Jiacheng’s mind worked in ways that were hard to understand. When he had nothing to do, he felt bored. Because of this boredom, he did things people couldn’t figure out, like dating girls.

In truth, he just spent money to find playmates. He never actually cheated or did anything wrong. They just went dancing, sang songs, and laughed together. Nothing else happened. But because Shangguan Jiacheng was rich, his playmates eventually developed big ambitions.

As a genius, Shangguan Jiacheng could easily see through their ambitions. So, he simply paid them to end the relationship. Since nothing serious had happened, and they got money when they left, even ambitious women couldn’t say he was wrong. This made him known for short-term romances, though only he knew the real truth.

All this started because of boredom. So, when Zhu Yanyi mentioned a project, she agreed without asking what it was. She knew better than anyone that Zhu Yanyi’s projects were never ordinary.

Sure enough, once Zhu Yanyi explained it, her interest was fully sparked.

Seeing they agreed, Zhu Yanyi nodded. This project wasn’t a sudden whim. If this machine hadn’t appeared, she planned to search through the tech civilization data they had collected, modify it, and create one herself. But now that Shangguan Jiacheng and Zhu Zhibin were interested, Zhu Yanyi decided to let them try first. If they struggled for too long, she would provide some basic data as clues later.

Technology that was too advanced could destroy this world’s civilization if misused. Zhu Yanyi wasn’t someone who liked destruction, so she wouldn’t release certain tech data.

Yan Aohan felt the same way. Neither of them would release such dangerous knowledge. However, leaving geniuses idle was a waste. It was better to let them research.

Zhu Yanyi and Yan Aohan had so much money that it was just numbers to them. They planned to make those numbers real by investing in these projects.

After dinner, everyone said their goodbyes. Xie Zhong and his group moved directly into Zhu Xinfu’s house.

Zhu Shunyao was taken away to act as a porter.

Zhu Zhibin first sent his mother home, then sent Nuan Nuan home.

Others went their separate ways. Some rested, while others prepared to leave.

The Xie family branches—Xie Jingyu, Xie Shengyu, and Xie Chengyu—were all leaving. Cheng Baokun’s family was also leaving, though Chen Ailian would return to the capital on the baby’s full moon day.

The Zhu family members were leaving too. Since Zhu Chanyao was staying in the capital, he helped see them off.

After Zhu Yanyi and Yan Aohan returned home, they began hosting friends for banquets.

Zhu Yanyi invited her capital friends first, including Ma Tianliang, Wu Han, and Shangguan Haohan. This banquet was different from the wedding feast; it was a formal introduction of Yan Aohan.

Yan Aohan did the same for his friends, formally introducing Zhu Yanyi.

During the banquet with Ma Tianliang and the others, Ma Tianliang gave Zhu Yanyi a file. Zhu Yanyi waited until they were home to read it.

“What is this file?” Yan Aohan asked.

Zhu Yanyi handed it to her casually. “This ‘Holy Hand’ probably knows her own situation, so few people have acted against her. So far, there are eight people.”

Yan Aohan read it and looked surprised. “You could have just asked me for this information. Why did you have them investigate?”

“They recognize me as their master. If I don’t give them tasks, they feel uneasy. Besides, it’s too much trouble for you, Venerable Yanluo, to handle this.” Zhu Yanyi smiled.

Yan Aohan raised an eyebrow. “True. Your Four Kings and Eight Ministers have only three members so far. They need to get used to your ways.”

Zhu Yanyi chuckled. “I’m not doing it for the Four Kings and Eight Ministers. I just feel that since they recognize me as master, I should treat them equally. I can’t just ignore them because of my own whims.”

Zhu Yanyi might seem careless, but she wasn’t heartless. She valued Ma Tianliang and the others. They were loyal, so she planned to promote them more.

Yan Aohan smiled softly and handed the file back. “Wife, you’re right. Some things can’t be done just by being willful. Some things require sincerity.”

The Four Kings and Eight Ministers weren’t easy to recruit. Without sincerity, they wouldn’t give their lives to Zhu Yanyi. Yan Aohan wouldn’t say this out loud.

Zhu Yanyi looked hard-hearted sometimes, but her heart was soft for friends and those she liked. That’s why Yan Aohan didn’t mention it.

Zhu Yanyi flipped through the file again. “We can’t underestimate this ‘Holy Hand.’ Most of the patients she ‘cured’ have some background.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Yan Aohan said calmly. “None of them are good people. Otherwise, they wouldn’t seek out a so-called ‘Holy Hand.’”

Zhu Yanyi nodded. “I checked. Some of their illnesses are too shameful to mention. How can no one stop them?”

“Someone will stop them. The Heavenly Dao isn’t to be trifled with,” Yan Aohan said slowly.

Zhu Yanyi tilted her head and smiled. “What if I cure the patients whose illness sources were wrongly transferred? Then let the news spread, and leak a little information? What will that ‘Holy Hand’ do?”

“What can he do? With that pig brain, he can’t outsmart you even if he tries hard.” Yan Aohan laughed at his own joke.

Zhu Yanyi hit her lightly. “I’m serious. Don’t laugh like a fool. And don’t say she can’t outsmart me. I’m very innocent.”

“Okay, okay, I spoke wrong,” Yan Aohan admitted helplessly. “I was just joking. But one thing is certain: if the ‘Holy Hand’ finds out you cured the people he harmed, he will definitely come to provoke you.”

“Provoke?” Zhu Yanyi was speechless. “Does she really think she can provoke me? With her level?”
