Chapter 2297

The "Saint Hand" placed his palm on the paralyzed man’s leg. He felt his energy draining rapidly. A surge of heat rushed from his hand into the patient’s legs.

Twenty minutes passed. The Saint Hand collapsed to the floor, exhausted. The man in the wheelchair stood up, took a few steps, and his eyes lit up. "My legs are healed."

"Saint Hand, please stand up," Zhu Yanyi said with a gentle smile.

The Saint Hand tried to rise but found his legs numb and lifeless. His face turned pale. The numbness spread through his nerves. The illness had transferred to him.

Zhu Yanyi clapped her hands softly. The glass barrier between them vanished. She walked over and looked down at her. "Can’t you stand, Saint Hand?"

The Saint Hand trembled. "Divine Doctor, save me."

Zhu Yanyi smiled faintly. "I told you. This patient couldn’t walk for twenty years, and she never will again. Since you ‘cured’ her, the illness transferring to you is natural. One life for another. Isn’t that your method?"

"No! It’s not like that! I didn’t know the illness would transfer! I truly didn’t know!" The Saint Hand denied it, refusing to admit he knew the truth.

Zhu Yanyi waved her hand. "It doesn’t matter if you knew or not. Truth is irrelevant to me. You destroyed eight people’s happiness. I healed them as payment for your presence. Now, the entanglement between you and this patient is none of my business."

"No! I don’t want to be disabled! I don’t want to sit in a wheelchair forever! I want to live! Divine Doctor, save me! I have lots of money! I’ll give it all to you!"

"Your ill-gotten gains? They are already frozen. I gave them to the eight victims as compensation. As for you, I save people based on my mood. You have spoiled my mood, so I will not save you." Zhu Yanyi laughed softly. "Heaven’s cycle is fair. No one escapes karma. You must bear the consequences of your sins."

Zhu Yanyi stepped back. Police officers waiting nearby moved in to arrest the Saint Hand.

The arrest procedures would follow the law. The final outcome was not Zhu Yanyi’s concern, as the Big Boss would not let the Saint Hand go easily.

The entire event was broadcast live. Everyone in the country watched and cursed the Saint Hand, knowing the eight people he had "saved" were all villains.

Zhu Yanyi withdrew from the matter.

"The Saint Hand affair is finally over," Zhu Yanyi sighed in relief. Her task was truly complete.

Yan Aohan poured her a glass of water. Seeing her exhaustion, he said, "You didn’t need to push yourself so hard. Your plan was flawless. You predicted this outcome. Why tire yourself out?"

"I didn’t want to be tired either. But dealing with the Saint Hand required caution. The origin of her 'Saint Hands' was a mystery," Zhu Yanyi sighed.

Yan Aohan nodded. "What do you plan to do with his hands?"

"Take me there secretly later. I will disable her hands. It is better to do it sooner rather than later," Zhu Yanyi said after a moment’s thought.

"Good. He is in solitary confinement. Many want to study his hands. But honestly, those hands should not exist. They are too evil. If something goes wrong, who knows what will happen? Some experts are too curious, and curiosity leads to mistakes," Yan Aohan explained. Their thinking was limited by their mortal perspectives.

That night, Zhu Yanyi and Yan Aohan secretly visited the detention center. Zhu Yanyi said nothing. She used Wu Yi techniques and talismans to disable her hands. The hands looked normal and could still perform basic tasks, but the Saint Hand’s supernatural ability was gone.

With this done, Zhu Yanyi felt completely at ease. She walked with Yan Aohan on the street, looking up at the dark sky. She felt no cold.

The Night Spirit had been sent into the darkness by Zhu Yanyi. Walking in the night, she was safe from danger because of the Night Spirit. But mostly, she was safe because Yan Aohan was with her.

"Aohan, there is a late-night snack stall there," Zhu Yanyi said suddenly, pointing across the road. She wanted a snack.

Yan Aohan didn’t mind. he held her hand and crossed the street. "Wanting a snack is easy. Let’s go."

Others might say street food is unclean, but for Zhu Yanyi and Yan Aohan, eating there occasionally was comfortable.

Yan Aohan ordered stir-fried snails, crispy rolls, sweet and sour fish, white-cut chicken, two clay pot dishes, and a pot of heated yellow wine. They began their late-night meal.

Zhu Yanyi loved the atmosphere of a late-night snack.

Yan Aohan poured her a cup of hot yellow wine. "Drink some. It warms the body."

"Okay. You drink too," Zhu Yanyi smiled at her.

They no longer felt cold or heat strongly. Even in single clothes in the Arctic, they wouldn’t feel cold. But here, they had to act like ordinary people. If they were too different, they should leave early.

"Try these snails. They taste good," Yan Aohan said, sucking a snail from its shell.

Zhu Yanyi took a snail and sucked it. The spicy, fresh flavor filled her mouth. The meat was chewy and delicious.

"The snails are well-made. The boss has good skills," Zhu Yanyi said, taking another one.

A person at the next table heard this and laughed. "You’re right, young lady. This boss is an expert in river and sea food. I’ve eaten many snails, but his are the best. The flavor is deep."

Zhu Yanyi nodded. "My husband and I rarely come out today. We didn’t expect to find such a good place. It’s rare. We will come again next time."
