Chapter 2743

She took a deep breath, snapping herself out of her reverie. She had long known that Zhu Yanyi had a husband, so she felt a twinge of self-reproach for her wandering thoughts.

The deities from the seven major universes, preparing for the War of Gods, arrived one after another. Unlike Zhu Yanyi and her companions, who had to fly their spacecraft for three years and six months because it was their first time traveling this route, the others came from older universes. They already had established teleportation points, allowing them to arrive quickly.

The number of participants from each universe varied, and not every deity possessed the cultivation of a Di Zun. This was understandable; such high-level gods were rare. Consequently, Zhu Yanyi’s presence on the list of deities from the Supreme Universe did not surprise anyone.

Zhu Yanyi had initially assumed all participants would be at the Di Zun level, but she soon realized her mistake. During this period, besides reading, she spent much of her time discussing medical techniques with Li Zhen, the God of Medicine from the Initial Universe, who had returned from a long journey. Their conversations were engaging and productive. However, Yan Aohan’s jealousy eventually led Zhu Yanyi to shorten these discussions. Of course, when Yan Aohan was busy, she would still consult with Li Zhen.

Time passed steadily until the first grand gathering of the seven universes arrived.

The main purpose of this gathering was simply to get acquainted. The "War of Gods" sounded grand, but it was essentially just a competition among the seven universes. The final battlefield was always the Demon Abyss. Before heading there, there were two preliminary meetings. The first was this gathering, for introductions and networking. The second involved sharing experiences, discussing challenges, and solving problems. Only then would they proceed to the Demon Abyss.

Currently, they were at the first stage: meeting the various deities.

With Yan Aohan by her side, Zhu Yanyi felt no need to memorize anyone’s name. She stayed quietly to the side, sipping divine fruit juice and eating some spirit beast meat prepared by the Initial Universe.

The Evil God, seeing Zhu Yanyi’s leisurely demeanor, decided to interrupt her peace. "Empress Yan, is that spirit beast meat, divine beast meat, or demon beast meat you are eating?"

"As long as it’s meat, it doesn’t matter what kind. I rarely eat meat, so I never bother to distinguish between types," Zhu Yanyi replied. Although she wasn’t fond of meat, she didn’t dislike it either, so she continued eating.

The Evil God looked at her. "I feel like this meat resembles Xiangyao meat."

Zhu Yanyi looked at the piece in her hand and lifted it. "This piece?"

"Yes," the Evil God smiled wickedly. "You’re eating Xiangyao meat? Aren’t you afraid of being poisoned?"

"Are you sure it’s Xiangyao meat?" Zhu Yanyi asked, her expression blank.

"Yes, I’m sure," the Evil God said, his smile growing more sinister.

"Then I’ll take another bite," Zhu Yanyi said, taking a large, aggressive bite. "This Xiangyao isn’t the one you took away, but thinking of the trouble its kin caused us makes my teeth itch with hatred. Taking another bite to chew on it feels like revenge, helping to calm my anger."

The Evil God’s bright smile vanished, replaced by speechlessness. She stared at Zhu Yanyi, stunned. She had intended to disgust her by mentioning Xiangyao, expecting her to recoil. Instead, she had started eating even more enthusiastically.

"Evil God, thank you," Yan Aohan said, having watched the interaction closely since the Evil God approached. she smiled warmly, placing a hand on the Evil God’s shoulder. "I truly appreciate this. You have no idea how much effort it takes to get my wife to eat meat. Your method is excellent—using the Xiangyao she hates to make her eat more. The power of hatred is indeed great."

The Evil God looked at Yan Aohan, wondering if he had walked into the wrong place or if his ears were failing him. What kind of couple was this?

"Husband, come eat some Xiangyao meat," Zhu Yanyi called out. "I just realized that Xiangyao meat tastes quite similar to beef."

"You knew all along it was spirit beef?" the Evil God asked, realizing Zhu Yanyi’s words were a trap.

Zhu Yanyi took another bite, then stuffed the remaining half into Yan Aohan’s mouth before answering. "Evil God, do you have amnesia? Have you forgotten that I am a doctor? If a doctor cannot identify what they eat, how can they distinguish medicinal herbs and become a true God of Medicine?"

It turned out that while the Evil God tried to tease her, she had turned the tables and teased her instead.

Other deities expected the Evil God to be angry, but he only paused for a moment before laughing heartily. "As expected of the God of Medicine. Indeed, one cannot challenge you on matters of food."

"You flatter me," Zhu Yanyi said, her expression unchanged. "Your praise makes me feel shy."

She raised an eyebrow slightly and continued, "Although I am shy, I must admit your praise is accurate. As the God of Medicine, my ability to identify objects is naturally superior."

The Evil God listened calmly, then nodded. "Indeed, the God of Medicine. These skills are truly enviable."

"Your skills are not bad either," Zhu Yanyi said with a smile. "At least I cannot match your talent for constantly scheming against others." She feigned regret.

The Evil God raised an eyebrow. "Does the God of Medicine envy this? If so, you can come to my side, and I can teach you personally."

"Evil God," Yan Aohan’s face darkened. Nearby, the Cloud Emperor also frowned in disapproval.

The Evil God showed no fear of Yan Aohan’s anger. "There is a saying in the mortal realm: 'A graceful lady is the desire of a gentleman.'"

Yan Aohan sneered. "That saying is quite right. The problem is that she is a gentleman’s lady, and you are not a gentleman."
