Chapter 2972

"Thank you, Principal. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back now." Yan Xiwan received her answer and didn’t linger.

"Of course you can go. But, Yan Xiwan, regarding your score… can we make it public?" The Principal looked at her, seeking confirmation.

Yan Xiwan raised an eyebrow slightly. "Public? What do you mean?"

The Principal hurried to explain, "The questions were quite mixed. We originally intended to test the depth of your knowledge, but you gave us perfect answers. Your responses are so close to the standard that we discussed it among the faculty. We’d like to publish your answers as the official key for everyone to see."

She cleared her throat. "More importantly, we want to show the difficulty and results of your Master’s and PhD exams. This will prevent any future disputes."

Yan Xiwan’s combined Master’s and PhD exam was a special case, so her test paper was unique. Because her path was different, the difficulty was three levels higher than a standard Master’s exam.

The Principal was indeed smart. He knew that once Yan Xiwan passed the PhD exam, some might be dissatisfied. Dissatisfaction leads to rumors. It was better to nip this in the bud now. By showing everyone the paper and the score, no one would have grounds for gossip.

Though the Principal didn’t state it explicitly, Yan Xiwan understood the implication. She paused briefly, then nodded. "Since I’ve submitted the paper, I’ve authorized the school to use it. Principal, feel free to post it."

"That’s wonderful. Then, Student Yan Xiwan, keep up the good work. I hope you give me another brilliant performance tomorrow." The Principal said eagerly.

Yan Xiwan smiled and thanked him, then left with the group.

They didn’t go straight home, but first went to a nearby hotel for lunch. The exam started at nine, lasted three hours, and with waiting for results, it was now one in the afternoon. Cooking at home was too late, so eating out was easier.

They found a clean restaurant and booked a private room. Ouyang Tianyun and Yan Xiwan were tasked with ordering. Since everyone else was elders, the juniors handled the chores.

Ouyang Tianyun and Yan Xiwan ordered several dishes, mostly easy to digest. Although the elders weren’t very old, health was important. With Yan Xiwan, a doctor, present, they certainly wouldn’t let them eat indiscriminately.

Seeing the dishes, the parents knew most were chosen by Yan Xiwan.

Ouyang’s father took a bite of the vegetarian soup and said to Ouyang Tianyun, "Xiwan is such a good girl. You must not bully her. If you do, I’ll break your legs."

Ouyang Tianyun served him a piece of ham tofu and replied, "Am I the type to bully people? Besides, if I were to bully anyone, it would be someone else, never my wife. We’re taught to cherish our own wives."

Ouyang’s father nodded satisfactorily. "You haven’t disgraced the Ouyang name."

Yan Tieniu also saw this and said, "In-law, Tianyun is a good boy. Don’t wrong him."

Although Yan Tieniu loved his daughter more, he liked his son-in-law well enough. As long as he knew the son-in-law suffered for his daughter, he would naturally defend him.

Yan Xiwan smiled and served Ouyang Tianyun a piece of sweet and sour ribs. "Try these ribs. I wonder how they taste."

Ouyang Tianyun didn’t refuse. He took a bite and said, "The sweet and sour flavor is okay, but it wasn’t stewed long enough. The bones are still hard. Not as good as Mother-in-law’s cooking."

Wang Suyao laughed. "If you like it, come home. I’ll make it for you."

"In-law, don’t spoil him," Ouyang’s mother said. "He’s been independent since childhood. He usually cooks what he likes, so he has good cooking skills. You don’t need to spoil him. If he wants to eat, let him cook it himself."

Ouyang Tianyun quickly said, "Mother-in-law, don’t worry. If I want to eat, I’ll cook it myself. Don’t worry about me going hungry."

Of course, they didn’t ignore Cheng Junnan and his wife. The meal was quite pleasant.

The next day, the three families, plus Ouyang Tianyun, accompanied Yan Xiwan for the PhD exam.

Having experienced the first day, Yan Xiwan familiarly entered the conference room.

The exam started at nine again. This time, Yan Xiwan spent three and a half hours to finish.

The PhD questions were indeed very difficult, but for Yan Xiwan, it was manageable.

After the exam, Yan Xiwan waited in the side conference room as usual. However, when the Principal arrived with news, Yan Xiwan twitched her lips.

"You want me to take the Postdoc exam tomorrow?" Yan Xiwan was speechless.

"Yes. Since you got full marks on the PhD exam again, we think you should try the Postdoc exam." The Principal smiled. "We’ve thought about it. If you pass the Postdoc, I hope you can teach here. You don’t need to come every day, just supervise a few graduate students."

Talent was scarce, and there weren’t many capable professors in the school. Many professors had to teach multiple classes, which was exhausting.

The Principal’s main reason for suggesting the Postdoc exam was the school’s lack of faculty.

Yan Xiwan understood. She sighed. "Principal, I understand. I’ll take the Postdoc exam tomorrow. But whether I can supervise students depends on my Master and teachers. Theoretically, I haven’t graduated from my apprenticeship yet."

Since ancient times, there were rules between masters and disciples. A disciple could only become a master after graduating.

The Principal understood this and nodded. "Alright. Prepare well, and remember to come for the Postdoc exam tomorrow."

Well, the original combined Master’s and PhD exam had now become a combined Master’s, PhD, and Postdoc exam.

Not only that, but this was a one-day notice. Postdoc exams usually required one or two years of preparation. She hadn’t even thought about preparing. The Principal telling her to "prepare well" sounded awkward.

"Our Guai Guai is amazing. She’s taking the Postdoc exam directly." Yan Tieu exclaimed, then turned to Wang Suyao. "Wife, pinch me. Am I dreaming?"

Wang Suyao pinched Yan Tieniu hard. "Are you still dreaming?"

"It’s real! It’s incredible. Our Yan family is producing a Postdoc. In ancient times, that would be the position of Grand Tutor."

Yan Tieniu’s excited expression made Yan Xiwan laugh.

"Dad, it’s just a Postdoc. Is it really that exciting?" Yan Xiwan asked.

"Guai Guai, it’s not just a Postdoc. Look, how many Postdocs are there in our entire China? You are truly talent among talents." Yan Tieniu was very happy.

Well, although it meant an extra day of exams for Yan Xiwan, seeing her father so happy, she decided one more day was fine.

The next day, with the same large group accompanying her, Yan Xiwan took the Postdoc exam. This time, she spent four hours.

After coming out, Yan Xiwan drank the bird’s nest porridge Wang Suyao had brought and said, "I think I’ll never have to take an exam again. These continuous hours of testing made me want to vomit."

"Did you pass this time?" Wang Suyao asked softly.

Yan Xiwan nodded. "Basically, there won’t be any problems."

Then Yan Xiwan smiled at Wang Suyao. "Mom, you don’t need to whisper. If I didn’t have confidence, I wouldn’t have agreed yesterday. I just felt that three days of continuous exams were a bit grueling."

It was indeed grueling. Not just the eating issues, but the exam times were all compressed. Yan Xiwan was lucky; she could answer all the questions. Because it went smoothly, the time was compressed from six hours. Even the last exam today only took four hours.

But even with compressed time, three days of high-intensity exams put significant pressure on a person.

Half an hour later, the Principal appeared with a big smile. "It’s not a full score, but only three points were deducted. Basically, it’s a full score."

Yan Xiwan looked at the Principal. "Alright. I’m finally free. No more exams."

The Principal added, "Go rest for two days. I’ll talk to Old Man Yuan and Professor Feng tomorrow. Regardless, I hope that after they agree, you can come to the school to supervise graduate students."

Yan Xiwan paused briefly, then nodded. "I can supervise graduate students, but not too many. At most four per batch. No more."

"Good." The Principal agreed immediately.

Yan Xiwan went home.

News of Yan Xiwan passing the Postdoc exam spread quickly. Within a few days, it wasn’t just throughout the Capital Medical University, but across the entire capital and all schools in China.

Most importantly, her three days of exam papers and scores were published.

To say she cheated was impossible. There was photographic evidence. She took the exam alone in a conference room, supervised by four teachers.

If she could cheat under such strict supervision, she wouldn’t be human, but a god.
