Chapter 2978
"Finally, we've arrived." Yan Xiwan sighed with relief.
Riding in a car in such ghostly weather was far from enjoyable. The bumpy journey felt like a rollercoaster, making the ride incredibly uncomfortable. If Yan Xiwan hadn't been a cultivator, even someone who never got carsick would have been nauseous by now.
Upon stepping out, two staff members from the combat camp, wrapped in heavy coats, approached them. They shook hands with Ouyang Tianyun and Yan Xiwan. "You two experts have finally arrived."
Ouyang Tianyun smiled lightly. "We are here to do our best, nothing more."
"You shouldn't say that," one of them replied. "Without you, we wouldn't know how to handle the situation. Your presence gives us a backbone."
"Shouldn't you introduce yourselves? I don't even know how to address you," Yan Xiwan said, amused.
The two staff members paused, then laughed heartily. "I'm Wang Dali, and this is our political commissar, Chen Jianshe."
"Comrade Wang, Comrade Chen, please take care of us in the days to come," Yan Xiwan said with a smile.
"Where, where. Let's go inside; it's too cold here," Chen Jianshe said.
As they entered, Wang Dali personally poured two cups of hot water and handed them to Ouyang Tianyun and Yan Xiwan.
"Please tell us the specific situation," Ouyang Tianyun said, taking the enamel cup.
Yan Xiwan knew Ouyang Tianyun had her own mission, so she remained silent.
Wang Dali walked to a wall with a map hanging on it and pointed at it. "This is our base. Our front line has stretched out because the enemy keeps building another bunker at this gap."
She pointed to a specific spot. "If we want to pass through, we must destroy this bunker. However, our current weapons lack sufficient power."
"I brought some weapons with me. They were disassembled and sent by special personnel. They should arrive in batches within two hours, and I will assemble them on site."
Ouyang Tianyun spoke calmly. "It's just a small blocking bunker. Don't worry. Once the supplies arrive, I'll show you the weapon I've recently developed."
She added, "I also need a testing ground and targets. It seems someone has provided them."
Yan Xiwan said, "Then you focus on your project. I'll go check on the wounded camp." She turned to Wang Dali. "Please have someone take me to the wounded camp."
"I'll take you," Chen Jianshe said. "Due to personnel shortages, I am responsible for the wounded camp, so I know the situation best."
Yan Xiwan nodded. "Let's go then."
Chen Jianshe put on a thick cotton-padded jacket, and Yan Xiwan did the same. She then picked up a suitcase.
"Leave the suitcase here. I'll have someone send it to your resting place later," Wang Dali said.
Yan Xiwan smiled slightly. "This suitcase contains medicinal herbs, not my luggage. My luggage is just that bag. You can send it over later."
"All medicinal herbs?" Chen Jianshe's eyes lit up. "We are in desperate need of medicine here."
"My supplies are likely just a drop in the bucket, but I need to understand the situation first. I can also search for some herbs in the forests nearby," Yan Xiwan explained with a smile.
Chen Jianshe's calm demeanor vanished. "In this freezing weather, there are still medicinal herbs?"
"Of course. Due to the heavy snow, some herbs look like withered grass. It requires experience to identify them, and I happen to have that experience," Yan Xiwan said, smiling. "So, I need to assess the condition of the wounded first."
Yan Xiwan had brought some medicine, but how much could fit in a single suitcase? Although she had plenty of herbs in her Ruyi Space, she could not reveal it. Thus, she had to decide based on the situation.
Chen Jianshe led Yan Xiwan to the wounded camp. As she entered, a bone-chilling cold hit her.
"It's so cold in the wounded camp. How are the injured supposed to recover?" Yan Xiwan frowned slightly.
"There's no other way. At least people can lie down here. There are no other places where people can rest," Chen Jianshe said helplessly. He also wished for a better environment for his wounded, but there were no good options here. Fortunately, they could still cut trees for firewood.
"Quickly! The patient's blood circulation is almost stopping!" A voice startled Yan Xiwan.
Ignoring the surroundings, Yan Xiwan rushed over. It appeared to be a temporary operating room, but the low temperature was disastrous for the patients.
Yan Xiwan stepped forward and immediately took out her golden needles, inserting one into the patient's heart meridian.
For the first time, Yan Xiwan used her golden needles in front of others.
Under the needle's influence, the heart meridian, which seemed to be stopping, began to beat slowly again.
"The heartbeat is recovering!" a nurse shouted.
Only then did they notice Yan Xiwan in the operating room.
Yan Xiwan calmly put on a white coat and a mask. "I'll take over."
She began the surgery with steady hands and familiar, rapid movements, leaving the original lead surgeon stunned.
"Done. The patient has just undergone surgery and cannot stay in such a cold place. The injury might not kill him, but the temperature will," Yan Xiwan said seriously.
"I'll have more firewood brought over," Chen Jianshe said from the side.
Yan Xiwan thought for a moment. "Have some people find firewood, and others come to me. I'll lead them to build a snow wall."
"A snow wall?" Chen Jianshe had never heard of such a thing.
"Snow is indeed cold, but don't you know that inside a real ice cave, it's actually warm? The snow wall works the same way. It blocks the cold wind from outside, and with firewood burning inside, the temperature will rise," Yan Xiwan explained with a smile. "It's a principle of extremes reversing."
Chen Jianshe hurriedly said, "I'll go find people immediately." He left and executed the order quickly, bringing back a group of people soon.
Yan Xiwan had already identified the wind direction and began building the snow wall with the others. Soon, the wall was up. Indeed, the snow wall blocked the cold wind.
"This is amazing!" Someone witnessing the miracle gave a thumbs-up.
Yan Xiwan smiled. "This is much better. It will help the patients recover."
As Yan Xiwan predicted, with the snow wall blocking the cold outside and firewood burning inside, the temperature in the room rose significantly within thirty minutes.
