Chapter 2983
Chapter 2983: One and a Half Years Later
"It is fine. Decades are not a long time for us," Ouyang Tianyun said, trying to comfort her.
"But I want to marry you soon," Yan Xiwan said, looking at him seriously.
Ouyang Tianyun paused, then smiled. "It is fine. You can marry me early. We just need to avoid dual cultivation."
Yan Xiwan glared at him. "You haven't even proposed yet. I won't marry you. Besides, I am not eighteen yet."
"That is coming soon, just a few more months. As for the proposal, rest assured, I will give you a ceremony you will never forget." Ouyang Tianyun looked confident.
The war had ended, so everyone began to leave.
Ouyang Tianyun and Yan Xiwan left quietly, without disturbing anyone. Xiao Li had bought their train tickets.
It was interesting. For over a year, Xiao Li, Xiao Zheng, and Xiao Kuang had protected Yan Xiwan. Now that she was leaving, their mission was complete, and they would return to their own teams.
Before leaving, Yan Xiwan gave them a gift: a portion of Peiyuan Powder for each of them.
After several days and nights on the train, they finally returned to the Imperial Capital.
As her feet touched the ground of the capital, a sense of nostalgia appeared on Yan Xiwan’s face.
"I actually missed this place a lot during the past year and a half," Yan Xiwan said. She stomped her feet heavily twice and jumped a few times.
Ouyang Tianyun smiled gently. "Well, after this, we probably won’t be away for so long."
This time was due to the war. In the future, even if there were matters to attend to, it would only be for a few months at most.
It was unlikely they would be gone for a year and a half again.
Yan Xiwan and Ouyang Tianyun first returned to their small villa to shower and change clothes. Then, Ouyang Tianyun took Yan Xiwan to the Yan family home.
"You girl, going to the front line without telling the family. If you had written to say you couldn't come back, we wouldn't have known," Yan Tieniu and Wang Suyu said, overjoyed to see her.
"The mission was urgent, so I didn't have time to say anything. Besides, if I had told you, you would have worried for days," Yan Xiwan smiled. "Actually, we were not in danger. I only performed surgeries on the wounded, and Tianyun repaired weapons and other mechanical equipment, so we couldn't go to the very front."
Sometimes, a white lie is necessary.
"The only bad thing is that because we left, we missed my eldest brother and sister-in-law's wedding. And I didn't celebrate the birth of my niece."
Yan Xiwan truly felt guilty about this.
Originally, she thought it would only be a few months, but unexpectedly, it lasted a year and a half.
Thus, she missed Yan Zhicheng and Tian Chunxiang's wedding.
"What is there to worry about? Your brother and sister-in-law won't blame you," Wang Suyu smiled. Then she asked, "Have you visited the Ouyang family?"
"Not yet. I came to see you first. After all, I am not married to Tianyun yet, so it is not proper to go to my husband's family immediately," Yan Xiwan said, showing her thick skin.
Wang Suyu laughed. "Fine. Go now. Regardless, it is polite. Come over for dinner tonight."
"Okay, then I will go to the Ouyang family for lunch," Yan Xiwan said. She knew that on her first day back, she had to visit the Ouyang family.
Ouyang Tianyun had thoughtfully taken her to her home first, and she had come along, but that did not mean she could ignore the Ouyang family.
So, Yan Xiwan and Ouyang Tianyun left the Yan family and went directly to the Ouyang family home.
"Actually, it is fine to visit my parents tomorrow, isn't it?" Ouyang Tianyun said. He knew that visiting both families on the day of their return was tiring.
"It is fine. I am not tired," Yan Xiwan smiled lightly.
As cultivators, they truly did not get tired. However, because tickets were scarce on the way back, they had sat for seven days and nights. The air was not fresh, which caused a feeling of fatigue.
"I will drink some Spirit Liquid later," Yan Xiwan told Ouyang Tianyun.
Ouyang Tianyun confirmed she was truly fine, nodded, and they proceeded to the Ouyang family home.
Ouyang Tianyun’s father and mother showed joy in their eyes upon seeing them return.
Ouyang Tianyun’s mother pulled Yan Xiwan and looked her up and down. "You have lost weight. You must nourish yourself well when you return."
"I have grown taller, Auntie. Look, am I a bit taller than you now?" Yan Xiwan said with a grin.
Ouyang Tianyun’s mother was about 1.65 meters tall, while Yan Xiwan was now about 1.67 meters. When she fully settled, she would likely be around 1.7 meters.
Ouyang Tianyun’s mother hummed. "You have grown taller, but you cannot deny you have lost weight. Tianyun, that brat, must not have taken good care of you."
"Tianyun has taken good care of me," Yan Xiwan explained quickly. "But, as you know, it was the front line. We both had our own work, so we didn't have much time to see each other daily."
Ouyang Tianyun’s mother understood this, but still spoke unreasonably. "Tianyun is your fiancé. If he doesn't take care of you, who will? In short, you lost weight, so it is his fault for not taking care of you."
How could blame be assigned like this? Yan Xiwan looked helplessly at Ouyang Tianyun beside her.
Ouyang Tianyun raised an eyebrow slightly, not caring. He only smiled. "Mom is right. I indeed did not take good care of Guai Guai."
"Good that you know. A wife is meant to be cherished. If you don't take care of your wife like this, you will suffer in the future," Ouyang Tianyun’s mother continued to scold her son.
Yan Xiwan quickly intervened. "Auntie, I came specifically to mooch a meal. The stove at home was cold, and there was nothing to eat, so I came to mooch."
"Mooch, just mooch. We have food at home," Ouyang Tianyun’s mother laughed. "Early this morning, a subordinate of your Uncle Ouyang sent a carp weighing two jin. I will make sweet and sour carp for you later."
"Great," Yan Xiwan nodded. "For the past year and a half at the front line, having food was already good. We didn't have fish to eat at all. I have missed this fish for over a year."
Yan Xiwan spoke the truth. She truly had missed it for over a year.
At the front line, most of the food was dry rations or sweet potatoes.
They said sweet potatoes were the best coarse grain for weight loss. Yan Xiwan felt that the oil in her body had been completely drained by these sweet potatoes.
Ouyang Tianyun’s mother stood up. "Then you chat with your Uncle Ouyang first. I will personally cook sweet and sour fish for you today."
