Chapter 3012
"Even so, I only want someone who catches my eye. Look at the people down there. Which ones are good?" Ren Qianjin complained, her tone full of dissatisfaction.
"Miss, the embroidered ball determines fate by heaven. You gave up the previous candidates yourself, so naturally, each one is worse than the last," the butler stated calmly.
"That’s impossible. The previous few were actually quite good. Compared to these people here, the earlier ones were like the sky, and these are all mud," Ren Qianjin insisted.
"But you refused to accept them. So now you must choose from the mud," the butler said, showing no fear of Ren Qianjin.
The butler reported directly to the City Lord, so Ren Qianjin had to respect him to some extent in daily matters.
"Butler, can we change the group of people?" Ren Qianjin asked.
"The embroidered ball marriage is based on voluntary participation. These people here are volunteers. There are no others to replace them," the butler replied indifferently.
"How is that possible?" Ren Qianjin expressed her disbelief.
"Believe it or not, it’s up to you," the butler said. "The time is right, Miss. It’s time to throw the embroidered ball. The City Lord said this is your last chance to be willful."
Ren Qianjin bit her lip. She truly did not want to face the group of poor cultivators and loose cultivators below. However, if she did not choose, her father would truly abandon her.
She knew what kind of person her father was. she was selfish, willing to give up anything for her own destiny.
Seven marriage proposals were already her limit. But she had not waited for the person she wanted. This marriage proposal was bound to fail.
However, the butler’s meaning was now clear. If she did not marry properly, she might truly be abandoned.
To avoid being abandoned, she had no choice but to throw the embroidered ball.
The red embroidered ball felt scorching hot in her hand no matter how she looked at it, but she could not help but throw it. So, she threw it out.
The moment it left her hand, she closed her eyes. Regardless of who caught it, she had already planned in her heart: this person must not survive.
The embroidered ball rolled in the air and then fell at someone’s feet. The person bent down and picked it up.
It was a sword cultivator, with a face full of righteousness. He looked like someone who would not beat around the bush.
"Groom, hello," the butler came down and said respectfully.
The sword cultivator frowned slightly, then stuffed the embroidered ball into the butler’s arms. "I just picked it up casually. I am not your groom."
"What?" The butler was stunned. He had never thought anyone would refuse the City Lord’s daughter.
Although the butler knew Ren Qianjin was not a good girl, being rejected by oneself and being rejected by others were two different things.
The butler looked seriously at the sword cultivator. "This Daoist friend, today is our Miss’s embroidered ball marriage. If you have no intention, why did you enter this marriage range?"
"I just arrived in Renyi City today and was looking for an inn to stay in. I did not know you were holding a marriage proposal here," the sword cultivator said calmly.
"Isn’t that perfect? As the saying goes, fate brings people together from a thousand miles away. It shows that you and our Miss are truly destined," the butler said. "Otherwise, how would our Miss’s embroidered ball have fallen right next to you?"
"Butler, you cannot speak like that. Your Miss has thrown the embroidered ball seven times. If there were truly fate, this would be the seventh person," someone nearby interjected.
The butler cursed internally. He knew that sword cultivators could not tolerate even a speck of dirt. His Miss’s behavior was indeed bad, so he knew trouble was coming once this was said.
In fact, it was not just possible trouble; it was certain trouble.
Hearing the comment, the sword cultivator’s face darkened. His eyes were like swords as he looked at the butler. "It seems I truly have no fate with your Miss. I do not wish to become one of those seven."
"No, Daoist friend, listen to me. Our Miss did not end up with anyone else," the butler hurriedly explained.
"Daoist friend, are you trying to destroy my sword heart? We sword cultivators may not know much else, but we know one thing: no matter what, we cannot let our sword heart deviate. Your Miss threw away seven embroidered balls, marrying seven times. Even if she were the princess of a top sect, I would not want her," the sword cultivator said directly, not used to beating around the bush.
The butler was slightly stunned but realized this sword cultivator would definitely not become his groom. From these words, he knew there was absolutely no fate between his Miss and him.
"If you don’t want to marry me, I don’t want to marry you either," Ren Qianjin said. Dressed in red, she showed no joy, only arrogance.
"Miss, do not speak nonsense," the butler felt a headache coming on. He sensed that if his Miss continued to make a scene, the entire City Lord’s mansion might be destroyed with her.
"Very well. If you don’t want to marry, why throw the embroidered ball? As a cultivator, your actions are full of insult. A woman like you does not deserve marriage," the sword cultivator said, speaking his mind without hidden meanings.
Sword cultivators were mostly gentlemen, so his words were clearly true.
"You dare curse me? I will never let you go," Ren Qianjin said angrily upon hearing the sword cultivator’s words.
"You will never let me go?" The sword cultivator found this the funniest joke he had heard this year. "I am a sword cultivator. I have only heard of sword cultivators not letting anyone go. I have never heard of someone not letting a sword cultivator like me go."
The sword cultivator looked Ren Qianjin up and down. "You are merely at the fourth stage of Qi Condensation. You haven’t even reached the high level of Qi Condensation, yet you act wildly in front of me."
"You… you look down on me," Ren Qianjin said, dissatisfied.
"It’s not about looking down on you, but rather not caring about you. People like you only cause trouble because of your status. I wonder how many people your personality has harmed," he replied.
"This Daoist friend, you cannot speak such nonsense. Our Miss is a lady of the inner chambers. How could she harm anyone?" the butler argued.
"This butler, you are truly speaking blind lies," Yan Xiwan spoke up. She leaned out of the window and beckoned to the sword cultivator. "This Daoist friend, would you like to come up and have a cup of tea together?"
She then turned to the butler. "I may not know much else, but I know your Miss has harmed more than one person. She has even poisoned some of them."
Ren Qianjin’s face changed slightly. She looked at Yan Xiwan. "You know Lang Lu."
"Don’t say such disgusting words. Lu Fang has a wife. He has nothing to do with you. Don’t speak so intimately. If you don’t feel shameless, I feel shy. It’s the first time I’ve seen someone so openly trying to be a mistress. You are the City Lord’s daughter, yet you covet a married man. Aren’t you ashamed?"
