Chapter 3079
Yan Xizhong glanced at Yunmeng. To him, this matter was trivial, so he nodded and waved his hand. A misty screen appeared in the air, revealing the little girl, Xiao Juzi.
Xiao Juzi held three bellflowers and walked slowly.
She seemed to notice the changes around her. Some places felt unfamiliar.
Three years had passed. Not much had changed, but some streets had been repaired, looking smoother now.
Thinking for a moment, Xiao Juzi continued walking. Finally, a faint light appeared in her eyes. Yes, she had found something familiar.
A black rural dog.
Many people know that dogs can see many things that ordinary humans cannot.
"Heihei," Xiao Juzi called out to the dog.
The dog barked at Xiao Juzi and ran over. Xiao Juzi tried to pet Heihei, but she found she could not touch her.
Xiao Juzi tilted her head slightly. "Heihei, I don't know what's wrong. Others can't see me. I wanted them to take me home, but they couldn't see me. I can't touch them either. Now I can't even touch you."
Heihei lay on the ground with all four legs, whining softly. It seemed to be crying or telling her something.
Xiao Juzi said again, "But it's good that you can see me." Then, she seemed to forget her sadness. She waved the bellflowers in her hand. "Look, these are bellflowers I bought for Mom. It's her birthday. Let's go home."
Heihei whined twice more, then turned around, as if leading the way.
Xiao Juzi followed Heihei. Slowly, they arrived in front of a house.
The door was closed. Heihei whined twice.
From inside, a voice said, "That's Heihei's voice. Open the door quickly." The familiar voice made Xiao Juzi perk up.
The door opened. A man helped a pregnant woman out.
"Dad, Mom," Xiao Juzi called happily. But she realized her parents could not see her.
"Oh," the mother said, instinctively holding her belly.
"What's wrong?" the father asked hurriedly.
"Xiao Yezi must be rolling around in my belly," the mother said kindly. "I hope Xiao Yezi is as cute as Xiao Juzi." A trace of sadness appeared in her eyes.
"Actually, I wish Xiao Juzi had returned," the father said, touching the mother's belly. He paused before speaking.
"I hope so too," the mother said to her husband.
The father nodded. "Today is your birthday. Don't be sad."
"But today is also three years since we lost Xiao Juzi," the mother said, walking back into the house. She looked at a photo nearby.
In the photo, Xiao Juzi was still smiling. But because it was black and white, it carried a sense of regret.
Xiao Juzi came in and saw the photo too. "That's me. Am I dead?"
She was too young to understand what death meant, but now she understood.
Dead meant only a photo on the wall. Mom and Dad might miss her, but they could not see her standing right beside them.
Xiao Juzi cried. Tears fell drop by drop.
"Do souls have tears?" Yunmeng asked Yan Xizhong.
Yan Xizhong sighed. "Souls should not have tears. Forget it, I'll go check."
Yan Xizhong disappeared from the flower shop and reappeared beside Xiao Juzi.
"Xiao Juzi, why are you crying?" Yan Xizhong asked.
"Uncle," Xiao Juzi still remembered Yan Xizhong.
"Call me Brother," Yan Xizhong insisted on this title.
Xiao Juzi did not object. "Brother, why can't Mom and Dad see me?"
"You already have the answer," Yan Xizhong said. "You are a soul. In the human world, a soul is just a breath of air. That's why they can't see you."
"Then why can you see me?" Xiao Juzi asked.
"Because I do not belong to the human world," Yan Xizhong answered seriously.
Xiao Juzi watched her father help her mother sit down and place a bowl of fried noodles in front of her. "Come, eat some noodles. Today is your birthday. I wanted to buy a cake, but you refused."
"You promised me no cake in this life," the mother said. "If we hadn't left home to get a cake three years ago, Xiao Juzi wouldn't have gone out alone to buy flowers. She wouldn't have been hit and killed."
The father nodded. "I know. Don't be sad, wife. Remember, you have Xiao Yezi in your belly."
The mother touched her belly. "I hope it's Xiao Juzi reborn."
"Even if it's not Xiao Juzi, we will tell him he once had a sister named Xiao Juzi. Don't worry when we die. Xiao Juzi will not be left without worship," the father said seriously.
Hearing this, Xiao Juzi asked Yan Xizhong, "Brother, can I still see Mom and Dad?"
Yan Xizhong rubbed Xiao Juzi's head. "Your future is not here. But your parents will always remember you."
"Is the baby in Mom's belly a boy or a girl?" Xiao Juzi asked.
"It's a boy," Yan Xizhong did not hide the truth.
Xiao Juzi thought for a long time before asking, "Can I still see Mom and Dad?"
Yan Xizhong looked at Xiao Juzi. "Originally, it was impossible. But you shed tears. When a soul cries, its obsession is deep. Your tears are worth granting one wish. Do you want to see your parents?"
"Yes," Xiao Juzi said seriously.
"Then I will let you enter your parents' dreams. They can see you there. This will not harm them, but it will fulfill your obsession," Yan Xizhong said seriously.
Souls do not have tears. If a soul cries, it has mutated. If the obsession is not resolved, it may become a vengeful spirit. Therefore, her obsession must be cleared.
Hearing she could see her parents, even in a dream, Xiao Juzi was very happy.
That night, after Xiao Juzi's parents fell asleep, Xiao Juzi entered their dream.
"Dad, Mom," Xiao Juzi smiled at them.
Her parents hurried over. "Xiao Juzi, where did you go? We couldn't find you."
"I've always been at home. I know Mom and Dad are going to have a little brother soon, so I came to see you specially."
Xiao Juzi spoke sensibly. She did not mention her loneliness or sadness over the past few years.
"Dad, Mom, Xiao Juzi is doing well now. Don't worry. Xiao Juzi is very happy. I was just worried about you. Now that I know you're having a little brother, I am relieved."
"Xiao Juzi, Mom misses you," the mother said, shedding tears.
Xiao Juzi showed a pure smile. "I miss you too, Mom and Dad. But please don't worry about me. I am really doing well now."
