Although the students felt a heavy sense of defeat after the morning's setback, they kept their mouths shut. In their hearts, they still cared deeply about this knowledge competition.
"Then, the first question. What are Newton's Three Laws of Motion? Who would like to answer?" the organizer asked.
Cheng Chen stood up immediately. "I will answer."
She glanced around the room. Luo Fuxin had also started to rise, but she was a step too slow. Frowning slightly, Luo Fuxin sat back down.
"Newton's Three Laws of Motion, also known as Newton's Laws of Dynamics, include the First, Second, and Third Laws. They were summarized and proposed by Isaac Newton in 1687 in his book Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy. The First Law defines force: force is the cause that changes an object's state of motion. The Second Law describes the effect of force: force gives an object acceleration. The Third Law reveals the nature of force: force is the interaction between objects."
After finishing, Cheng Chen looked at the organizer. "I have finished answering. However, I am quite surprised. Isn't this a competition for first-year middle school students? Why is there physics? Also, this morning's test paper included questions on physics and chemistry. Most of us are ordinary students, not specially cultivated geniuses."
Cheng Chen was essentially lying with his eyes open. The audience was speechless. If he wasn't a genius, how could he answer physics questions? This proved he knew at least second-year middle school physics. Didn't that make him a genius?
The room was silent. Cheng Chen continued, "I had doubts when I saw the physics and chemistry questions on this morning's test. I thought you were just testing us. But now, your very first question is Newton's Laws. Are you treating all of us here as genius students when setting these questions?"
Cheng Chen hadn't wanted to be the troublemaker. But seeing such questions made her angry. She and Zhu Yanyi could handle it because of their learning ability, but that didn't mean everyone could. Her only feeling now was: just because you can, doesn't mean you should use your ability to crush everyone else. So, Cheng Chen spoke out.
His question caused a dead silence in the room. Indeed, they had treated this as just an experience, forgetting that the original purpose was to test first-year knowledge. Now, the scope had far exceeded that. It was no wonder Cheng Chen raised such doubts.
Organizer Luo was displeased by Cheng Chen's words. He thought, So what if I favor my son? If my son can stand out, it shows his ability. Others are just stepping stones for him. In his view, it’s their lack of ability.
"This young student," Luo said, "we hold this activity to improve everyone's enthusiasm for learning."
"Yes, what this organizer says is correct," Cheng Chen replied directly. "I must say the organizer's intention is good—to improve learning enthusiasm. But the actions taken are not reliable. Right now, you are not improving enthusiasm; you are suppressing it. If this activity makes everyone hate learning or fear studying, the result will be ugly. Who will take responsibility for that?"
