Zhu Yanyi nodded. She had no objections. "You can arrange it."
The car drove straight into the train station. Someone was already waiting there. Zhao Jingcheng handed the keys to him, clearly having him drive back. The group entered the priority waiting room. As soon as the train arrived, they boarded first.
Zhao Jingcheng had booked soft sleeper tickets. There were four people in one compartment. It was still early morning, and Zhu Yanyi felt a bit sleepy. She climbed onto the upper bunk to sleep right away. Qin Tianxiang chose the lower bunk below her. Luo Gang and Zhao Jingcheng took the bunks opposite. It was just dawn, so many people were sleeping. They closed the compartment door and slept, ignoring everything outside.
Zhu Yanyi fell asleep. The train wasn’t fast, but the rhythmic clacking sound was very soothing. She slept well and woke up near nine thirty.
"Wake up," Qin Tianxiang said with a smile.
Zhu Yanyi nodded, got up, and climbed down. She looked around. "Where are the others?"
"Brother Luo said you’d be hungry when you woke up. She went to the station entrance to wait. The train will stop soon, and she’ll buy hot noodles or dumplings for you. Mr. Zhao went to the restroom," Qin Tianxiang explained. She handed Zhu Yanyi a towel. "Do you want to wash your face?"
"Sure," Zhu Yanyi thought for a moment. "I’ll go wash up first."
"I’ll go with you," Qin Tianxiang said seriously.
Zhu Yanyi laughed. "The sink is at the end of the car. I’m not going to fly away. Don’t worry. I’m just washing my face."
"No, I must go with you. Brother Luo will punish me if he finds out," Qin Tianxiang insisted firmly.
Zhu Yanyi smiled helplessly. She knew Qin Tianxiang wouldn’t change her mind. "Okay. But we can’t leave the compartment empty. Let’s wait until someone comes back."
Qin Tianxiang thought about it and nodded. "Alright, let’s wait."
Soon, Zhao Jingcheng returned. Qin Tianxiang told him, and they went to wash up together. As they sat down, the announcement said they were arriving at the station. The stop lasted five minutes. Three minutes later, Luo Gang returned holding four enamel cups.
"I wanted to buy noodles, but couldn’t find any. So I bought four bowls of dumplings. Let’s eat together."
Everyone started eating without hesitation. Zhu Yanyi nodded while eating. "Brother Luo, where did you get so many enamel cups?"
"I brought them with me," Luo Gang replied.
Zhu Yanyi was slightly surprised. Who carries that many cups?
Luo Gang laughed. "I didn’t finish. I brought two myself, and borrowed two from the conductor. That’s why there are four."
Zhu Yanyi understood. Carrying two cups made sense, but four seemed odd.
"There are also steamed buns. Miss, please have some," Luo Gang pointed to a bundle wrapped in lotus leaves. She opened it, revealing nearly ten large buns. Buns back then were big, not small like later. Zhu Yanyi took one, broke it in half, and gave half to Qin Tianxiang.
"I can’t finish one," she said.
