"An out-of-province client came today to discuss agricultural products with Uncle Shun Yao, so she couldn't make it. Aunt Xin Lian is cooking for you, so I was asked to pick you up." Yan Aohan looked at Zhu Yanyi’s luggage. "The car is at the school gate. Is that all your luggage?"
"Three more pieces are in the dorm," Zhu Yanyi answered immediately. "Actually, I could have asked Brother Wang to help." Wang Ye had been protecting her from the shadows.
Yan Aohan smiled. "I am stronger than Wang Ye. Let’s go get the rest." She took the lead, pulling Zhu Yanyi up to the third floor.
Zhu Yanyi shrugged and said nothing. She led her to the luggage. The clothes weren’t heavy; only the box of books was. Yan Aohan didn’t seem to mind the weight. She tied everything up with rope, lifted two pieces, and left one for Zhu Yanyi. She left a note for her roommates, picked up her bag, locked the dorm door, and left.
Zhu Yanyi’s martial arts training had paid off. This weight was nothing to her. Downstairs, Yan Aohan took another piece. Now she carried three, and she carried two. As they walked out, Zhu Yanyi said, "I’m leaving the earliest. They haven’t come back yet?"
"You’ll see them again in a few days when you fill out your college applications," Yan Aohan said. she knew she was reluctant to leave after three years, but she would return for the graduation ceremony and applications.
Yan Aohan’s car was parked across from the school gate. She helped Zhu Yanyi put the luggage in the trunk, then opened the passenger door. "Let’s go home."
"What about Brother Wang?" Zhu Yanyi asked worriedly.
Yan Aohan glanced at her and smiled gently. "Since I came to pick you up, they already left." she didn’t mention that she had sent them away.
Zhu Yanyi looked at her. "I think you sent them away." She knew Yan Aohan well.
Yan Aohan wasn’t embarrassed by her seeing through her. she just said, "Get in the car."
Zhu Yanyi didn’t hesitate. She got in. Yan Aohan got into the driver’s seat, started the car, and drove carefully, yielding to pedestrians. "With me here, it doesn’t matter if they are around or not. Is there a better bodyguard than me? So sending them away was normal. Besides, their comrades have been arriving these days. As their host, you should give them a break to gather."
Zhu Yanyi hadn’t managed household affairs lately, especially Yan Aohan’s logistics and security companies. She was surprised to hear this. "Do the new arrivals have places to stay?"
Yan Aohan kept his eyes on the road. "The single rooms there are mostly repaired and assigned. Larger rooms can hold two people. Those without families can stay there. We are currently repairing the small courtyard houses. Many have several rooms, so even a whole family can stay. But few families have come; most are single."
"Don’t they have wives or children?" Zhu Yanyi frowned slightly.
