Zhu Yanyi walked into the bathroom. Luo Kun said, "You guys should get up now. Yanyi and I got up at five for morning exercise. You were still sleeping when we came back. That’s bad for your health. Early to bed, early to rise, makes you healthy. Hurry up and get up."
Because Luo Kun made such a fuss, by the time Zhu Yanyi finished her shower and came out, the other three had already made their beds. Luo Kun took her clothes and went straight in to shower.
Luo Kun was very fast. He was in and out in just five minutes. Then everyone washed their faces, brushed their teeth, and ate breakfast.
"You are so diligent," Hui Junlan said, biting into a flower roll. "When I was in Shancheng, I also got up very early. I had to go into the mountains with my dad to gather herbs. But that was for work. At home, I wouldn’t get up before six thirty."
Zheng Feier looked curious. "Junlan, you are from Shancheng? I heard Shancheng is beautiful. Is it warm like spring all year round? No seasons?"
"Almost, but not as exaggerated as you say. But it is true that the temperature doesn’t change by more than ten degrees all year," Hui Junlan said directly.
"So, Junlan, you are from a minority ethnic group?" Ma Yaya asked, her eyes full of curiosity.
Hui Junlan shook his head, then nodded. "I am only half minority. My dad is from a minority group. My mom was a educated youth sent to the countryside. But my household registration is under my dad’s ethnicity, the Hui tribe. So my surname is Hui. Everyone in our tribe has the surname Hui."
"That’s great. I wish I were from a minority group," Zheng Feier said, looking envious.
"Why?" Ma Yaya asked curiously. "Being Han Chinese is fine too. Why are you so envious?"
"Minority students get points deducted in the college entrance exam," Zheng Feier said directly. So that was why she was envious. This made the other four roll their eyes.
"I can study at the Affiliated High School because I was specially recruited. I am good at chemical analysis. I won third prize in the last International Advanced Chemistry Competition," Zheng Feier said softly. "But I am average in other subjects."
"Advanced Chemistry? That is university-level stuff," Zhu Yanyi said. "I didn’t know Feier was such a talent."
"Don’t call me a talent. Let me tell you, I am the best example of genius and idiot existing together. I always get first place in chemistry, but I always get last place in Chinese. I only got into the Affiliated High School because my score exactly met the requirement, plus my special recruitment," Zheng Feier sighed.
"It’s okay, it’s okay. Don’t sigh. I was also specially recruited," Luo Kun said with a comforting expression. "I am good at martial arts and physical fitness, but my grades are really not good. My dad forced me to come here. I am a bit better than Feier. My score was just three points above the admission line. So I came here. Actually, with my brain, I wonder how I will do in the college entrance exam?"
"Actually, let me tell you the truth. I was also specially recruited," Ma Yaya said. "My grades are average. But my nose is very sensitive to smells. My cousin is a lecturer at the Military Medical University. I told him about this, and he arranged for me to study here. He said I would be specially recruited later. So I came."
