"Grandpa Yao, what do you mean by 'arrogant'? You’re wrong to say that. I am very humble. Saying I’m arrogant is a big misunderstanding." Zhu Yanyi pouted, acting spoiled with her master.
"Ha, misunderstood? All those prescriptions came from you. You broke the killing array, didn’t you?" Grandpa Yao glanced at his little disciple. He was most worried about her.
"Grandpa Yao, I really am misunderstood," Zhu Yanyi said, genuinely feeling wronged. "Everything I did was to save people. That’s why people are targeting me." She looked at her again. "Besides, I let you take the credit. Everyone outside thinks you did it."
"But many people know it was you now. Be careful. Caution never hurts," Grandpa Yao said directly. "By the way, I heard two of your bodyguards haven’t returned?"
"Yes. They went with me to gather herbs and met human traffickers. It’s been almost two months. But they sent news a few days ago. They are fine and not hurt. Don’t worry," Zhu Yanyi paused. "Grandpa Yao, don’t worry. I still have four bodyguards." She knew she meant Luo Gang and Li Yang. She was worried too, but since they were with Yan Aohan, they should be safe.
"Bring all four," Grandpa Yao ordered. "We must be careful. Better safe than sorry."
"Okay." Zhu Yanyi thought, If they don’t bother me, good. If they do, I’ll beat them up. Since returning from Yun Province, she had been holding back anger. She wouldn’t kill, but she knew how to fight.
She had planned to bring Wang Ye and the others anyway. With Grandpa Yao’s reminder, she wouldn’t forget. So, the next day, she brought four bodyguards. Gu Jingtian had booked a twenty-seat minibus, so there was plenty of room. Gu Jingtian and her team also brought assistants, making about fifteen or sixteen people in total. The bus wasn’t too empty.
They left at two in the afternoon. They needed to reach the Tianshi Grand Hotel by five. Registration and identity checks were for tomorrow. Today was just for gathering.
It took an hour and a half to reach Tianshi. Once in the city, it took only ten minutes to get to the hotel.
Traffic wasn’t as crowded as in later times. The roads were clear, with no traffic jams. They arrived quickly.
Zhu Yanyi shared a room with Zhang Yan. Qin Tianxiang shared a room with another female assistant. Wang Ye and Pei Tiandu shared a room. Others were arranged similarly. They rested a bit, then gathered at the hotel restaurant for dinner around five-thirty.
"Try these pastries." Gu Jingtian served Zhu Yanyi a small twisted dough stick. "You must know Tianshi’s big dough sticks. These small ones are delicious too. Try them. This is a specialty of the Tianshi Grand Hotel. You won’t find this taste elsewhere."
