There was only one person inside. It wasn’t Lao Li or Ike, but a stranger. Lao Li and Ike were nowhere to be seen. Zhu Yanyi guessed they had already entered the underground city.
Zhu Yanyi thought for a moment, then inspected the area. She found a tiny gap, no bigger than a needle’s eye. She looked around, pulled a dry stalk of grass from nearby, and stuffed it into the crack. At the other end, she placed a drop of liquid. The liquid traveled along the grass and seeped into the room. About five minutes later, Zhu Yanyi looked through the window again. The man inside was now fast asleep, snoring loudly.
Zhu Yanyi signaled to Luo Gang. She carefully opened the door, and everyone stepped inside.
The room was warm because the fire in the fireplace burned brightly.
“It’s really warm in here,” Luo Gang said, waving away the smoke from his hand.
Zhu Yanyi nodded and looked around. “Let’s find the entrance quickly. This place is likely a base for the underground city, so we need to find the way in first.”
“Miss, look here,” Li Yang said, standing near the sleeping man. This was a monitoring room. Through the screens, they could see everything around them.
Zhu Yanyi walked over. She noticed the monitors showed not only the outside but also the area near the fireplace.
“The designer is truly clever,” Zhu Yanyi sighed, impressed by the ingenuity. “Who would guess the entrance is inside the fireplace? And it’s burning with fire.”
Luo Gang carefully moved the firewood from the fireplace to a temporary iron rack nearby. She tapped the wall a few times and gave Zhu Yanyi an ‘OK’ sign, indicating she had found the entrance.
Zhu Yanyi didn’t rush everyone in. Instead, she paused to think. “We need to plan our next move.”
“Should I go down first to scout?” Luo Gang suggested. Someone had to check the situation below. If they didn’t go down now, all their previous efforts would be wasted.
Zhu Yanyi glanced at Luo Gang. “Scout? Many elites lost their lives just by scouting. We don’t need to scout. We are here for revenge. Just throw poison in.”
Over the years, Zhu Yanyi’s experience had grown, and so had her temper.
“Throw poison?” Luo Gang looked at her curiously. “What kind of poison?”
Zhu Yanyi smiled mischievously. “They used the fireplace as a cover for the entrance, which means the ventilation system below is excellent. Good ventilation makes things easier.” Her expression turned strange. “Don’t you remember the desert roses outside? We can burn them as firewood. Then I’ll throw some medicine in here. It will be very interesting.”
Was this really ‘interesting’? Luo Gang and the other six shared the same thought. But seeing Zhu Yanyi’s excited look, they decided to keep their doubts to themselves.
Qin Tianxiang then asked, “If the ventilation is so good, what if the poison spreads to other places?”
