Zhu Yanyi shrugged. "No choice. The Yan family loves meat too much, including you, Sister. So I had to give it to Brother-in-law."
Yan Zhaoxia was speechless. It was true. The old Yan family loved meat above all else.
"Thanks, sister-in-law," Hua Yaohui said with a smile. her wife really loved meat too much. she couldn't stop her before. Now, with a vegetarian dish that tasted like meat, she could learn to make it for her.
Zhu Yanyi shook her head with a smile. Yan Aohan raised an eyebrow. "Are you not satisfied with the big table of food my wife made?"
"It’s not dissatisfaction, Fourth Brother," the old master sighed. "You know, making good vegetarian dishes is hard. It’s not just talk. Even with Yanyi’s recipe, we might not get the same taste."
"I started cooking with Grandpa Zhihui when I was five. Can’t you learn?" Zhu Yanyi didn’t think it was impossible. It just depended on whether they wanted to learn.
The old master looked helplessly at the old madam. The old madam giggled. "Yanyi is right. Let’s try learning first. If it doesn’t work, we can ask Yanyi to teach us later."
Zhu Yanyi nodded. She agreed with that.
After dinner at the Yan house, Zhu Yanyi said goodbye first. Yan Aohan and Zhu Yanyi left the Yan house.
"Fourth Brother is so lucky," Yan Hongyi sighed. "He found a wife who is good at medicine and cooking."
The old madam laughed. "It is Fourth Brother’s blessing, and our Yan family’s blessing too." She then said to Yan Huajun and others, "Alright, you can go back now."
Yan Huajun and others smiled and said goodbye to the old master and madam, then left.
Zhu Yanyi felt a bit tired but very happy. Yan Aohan saw the smile on her face. "Happy?"
"Yes. Uncle and Aunt are very nice. The brothers, sisters, and in-laws are all good too," Zhu Yanyi said honestly.
Yan Aohan squeezed Zhu Yanyi’s hand. "As long as you are happy. I told you, our family is easy to get along with."
Zhu Yanyi nodded. "I am relieved now."
"Why were you worried?" Yan Aohan looked ahead and tapped the steering wheel.
"Of course! It was my first time meeting my parents-in-law. How could I not be nervous? Luckily, the result was perfect," Zhu Yanyi smiled brightly.
Yan Aohan chuckled. "So, are you satisfied today?"
"Yes," Zhu Yanyi answered seriously. She was indeed satisfied. The Yan family was unexpectedly easy to get along with.
"Then, dear satisfied Miss Zhu, can you tell me in advance what gift you will give me tomorrow?" Yan Aohan asked with great curiosity.
"No," Zhu Yanyi answered firmly. "Just come home early tomorrow night."
Yan Aohan raised his eyebrows helplessly. He knew he would only get the answer tomorrow. It was a good thing, so he didn’t ask again despite his curiosity.
The next day, Zhu Yanyi went to the hospital in the morning. After finishing her work, she visited Shangguan Jiacheng first.
"Jiacheng, today is the day for medicinal diet. Come, eat it," Zhu Yanyi said. The diet looked like clear soup, but it was best for Shangguan Jiacheng now.
"Thank you, Sister," Shangguan Jiacheng said, eating the diet in small bites.
Zhu Yanyi checked her pulse again. "Jiacheng’s body functions are slowly recovering, but not fast. So she cannot eat solid food yet. Only soups and liquids." She then said to Shangguan Haohan nearby, "Massage Jiacheng’s calves when you have time. If she stays in bed too long, her muscles will waste away. Then, even if I cure her appetite, she might become disabled."
"Okay, I will pay attention," Shangguan Haohan said. She trusted Zhu Yanyi completely now and followed her advice.
Zhu Yanyi smiled at Shangguan Jiacheng. "Today is Monday. My younger brother will visit me this Saturday. I will bring her to see you. You are both geniuses, so you will have things to talk about."
"But I don’t go to school anymore," Shangguan Jiacheng said shyly.
"Even without school, your knowledge is higher than most students," Zhu Yanyi said, mimicking her tone.
Shangguan Jiacheng lowered his head shyly.
Zhu Yanyi laughed softly and patted her head. "Alright, rest well. Sister has other things to do."
Zhu Yanyi now truly treated Shangguan Jiacheng like a younger brother.
"Okay, goodbye, Sister," Shangguan Jiacheng waved.
Zhu Yanyi returned to her practice chamber and wrote some data analysis. Then she checked her watch. It was time to leave.
Today was Yan Aohan’s birthday. She wanted to do something bold, so she needed to prepare.
Zhu Yanyi picked up the cake she had ordered earlier, then returned to her apartment. She went into the kitchen to prepare for Yan Aohan’s birthday.
When Yan Aohan came home, he saw a table full of dishes and an unwrapped cake. He looked into the kitchen and saw Zhu Yanyi still busy.
Zhu Yanyi sensed her return and turned to smile. "Wash your face and hands quickly. Dinner is ready soon."
Yan Aohan smiled gently. He walked over, kissed Zhu Yanyi on the lips, then went to wash up. He sat down at the table.
Zhu Yanyi brought a pot of wine. "This is special medicinal wine I made for you. I can only drink a small cup."
"Okay," Yan Aohan nodded with a smile. He knew Zhu Yanyi’s health rules. Under eighteen, she should drink less alcohol.
But drinking less didn’t mean not drinking at all. On such a special day, she could drink a little, but not much.
Yan Aohan understood this, so he nodded happily.
"Aohan, taste this. It’s your favorite Eight-Treasure Gourd Duck. I added medicinal ingredients. Try it."
Actually, Yan Aohan loved all meat. But since Zhu Yanyi said she liked Gourd Duck best, he would say he liked it best. He started eating.
Most importantly, Zhu Yanyi’s cooking was excellent. The duck meat melted in the mouth. Her special cooking method made it unforgettable.
Zhu Yanyi made a full table of dishes. Yan Aohan ate happily. "You are tired today. Eat some too. This is your favorite Sweet and Sour Fish."
