The silver fox smiled faintly, not expecting much from Old Ma. "Keep an eye on the capital. I’ve sent the bait. Let’s see if the Capital’s Venerable Yanluo takes it."
"The Capital’s Venerable Yanluo is a mystery. No one knows where he’s been lately," Old Ma said seriously.
"That’s why I want to know where he went," the silver fox replied, looking at the sky. "Let’s see if the two fish bait work."
Only Zhu Yanyi knew Yan Aohan’s whereabouts. She had almost forgotten about Yin Mei and the Holy Son until Zhou Feng came to her door.
"Sister-in-law," Zhou Feng said. She knew of Zhu Yanyi’s relationship with Yan Aohan, so she came to her.
Zhu Yanyi paused slightly upon seeing Zhou Feng. "Aohan isn’t home."
"I know. The Boss said to talk to you if there’s an issue. You can make the decisions," Zhou Feng said earnestly.
"Come in." Zhu Yanyi trusted Yan Aohan, so she trusted Zhou Feng. She led her to the living room, poured her a glass of water, and sat down. "Did something happen that made you come to me now?"
Zhu Yanyi stayed home mostly to develop medicines and rarely saw guests. Zhou Feng could only find her because Yan Aohan had told her. That was why she let her in.
Zhou Feng nodded. "According to reliable news, the Holy Son and Yin Mei entered the Changbai Mountain area. Yin Mei went first, the Holy Son five days later. The timing feels odd. Our informants said they were cooperating, but now it seems that partnership is breaking."
Hearing about the Holy Son and Yin Mei, Zhu Yanyi remembered them. She tapped her forehead. "I almost forgot. They’re probably after the Changbai Mountain treasure."
"Isn’t it confirmed there’s no treasure there?" Zhou Feng asked directly. As the capital’s head, he knew best.
"Yes, you and I know that. But the Holy Son and Yin Mei don’t believe it," Zhu Yanyi said calmly. "But I know Aohan’s plan. Since they came, they’ll stay in Changbai Mountain forever."
She stood up. "Zhou Feng, get ready. Tell Luo Gang and the others downstairs. I’ll pack up. We’re going to Changbai Mountain."
"Are you going personally? You don’t need to, do you?" Zhou Feng asked worriedly.
"Why not? I want to see how the Holy Son and Yin Mei die," Zhu Yanyi said coldly. If Yin Mei hadn’t used tricks, Medicine Elder wouldn’t have disappeared. Last time, she only punished Yin Mei slightly for Medicine Elder’s sake. Now that Medicine Elder was safe, Yin Mei had no reason to live.
Zhou Feng’s eyes lit up. She finally understood why her boss told her to find Zhu Yanyi. This little doctor wasn’t just a healer.
Hesitation leads to trouble. Zhou Feng admired Zhu Yanyi’s medical skills but worried she was too soft-hearted because she was a doctor. Now she knew she wasn’t easily swayed.
Zhou Feng didn’t know that Zhu Yanyi had earned the title "Saint Hand, Demon Doctor" in the peacekeeping forces. If she only saved lives, she wouldn’t be called a Demon Doctor.
Zhu Yanyi prepared briefly, wearing a homemade backpack, and left with Zhou Feng, Luo Gang, and others.
Only five people went with her. Zhou Feng brought Chen Guodong. Luo Gang brought Pei Tiandu and Li Yang. Including Zhu Yanyi, there were six people in total.
"Sister-in-law, is six people enough?" Zhou Feng worried about hurting her.
Zhu Yanyi glanced at Zhou Feng. "Quality matters more than quantity. Too many people isn’t good. We don’t need many to know about this. Six is enough."
Her excuse to others was gathering herbs, so no one knew her true purpose.
Changbai Mountain, also called Buxian Mountain, covers nearly two thousand square kilometers. It is said to symbolize growing old together.
But for Zhu Yanyi, the purpose was to kill people. She had little interest in the scenery or symbolism. If she had time, she’d look; if not, she wouldn’t. More importantly, she’d rather find more medicinal herbs.
"Zhou Feng, do you know which direction the Holy Son and Yin Mei went?" Zhu Yanyi asked.
"I do," Zhou Feng said with a smile. "We’ve been watching them since they came to the capital. We know their direction clearly."
Zhou Feng looked around, pointed in a direction, and said, "That way. But they entered earlier than us, so it will take time to catch up."
Zhu Yanyi showed no anxiety. "I’m not in a hurry. We can stroll slowly. I can pick some herbs along the way."
She truly wasn’t in a hurry. As a doctor, she understood greedy people. Once they set a goal, they would keep exploring until they found it. So, she didn’t rush.
Zhou Feng saw her calm, confident demeanor and felt like she was seeing her boss, Yan Aohan.
While Zhu Yanyi walked leisurely into the depths of Changbai Mountain, Yan Aohan stood looking at a barren place, his brows slightly furrowed.
"Your Majesty," Lao Hei said, looking at Yan Aohan with shame.
Yan Aohan sighed. This place could be developed later. Saving people was the priority now. "Gather everyone. I will distribute the antidote."
"Boss, if you had an antidote, why didn’t you say so earlier?" Lao Hei’s eyes lit up.
"Having an antidote doesn’t mean the Linglang Realm can cause trouble freely," Yan Aohan glanced at Lao Hei. "Lao Hei, you’ve been by my side for years. Why don’t you understand?"
"Your Majesty, I’ve tried hard to change things here. But the people of the Linglang Realm are stubborn," Lao Hei sighed.
"Stubborn? If they have the guts, let them die in the Linglang Realm. Don’t pretend to be tough. Who are you showing off for?" Yan Aohan sneered. "Lao Bai, where is that person?"
"Caught. Tied up." Lao Bai brought the person over without a word and threw him on the ground.
