Chapter 1458
Qin Tianxiang often complained about her son, but everyone knew she only said it to tease her.
Zhu Yanyi had Wang Ye pick up Xie Yijun, and they met at the airport. Xie Yijun looked tired. Zhu Yanyi frowned slightly. "Uncle Yijun, have you been very busy these days? You look so worn out."
"I’ve been filming a war movie. I’m acting and directing at the same time. It’s my first time as a director. But when your mother called and told me about Jingyun’s accident, I couldn’t sleep at all," Xie Yijun explained.
"It’s okay. You should take a few days to rest," Zhu Yanyi said with a gentle smile.
"I have to. Fortunately, I’ve finished most of the main scenes. I left the rest to the assistant director and gave the cast a few days off," Xie Yijun said. He was very responsible for his family.
"Actually, I think you should bring your mother and Jingyun to Kyoto," Zhu Yanyi suggested directly.
"I wanted to. I planned to wait until I was settled here before bringing them. I didn’t expect this to happen," Xie Yijun said, looking regretful. He wished he had brought Xie Jingyun and Ouyang Manqing earlier.
Zhu Yanyi smiled softly. "Don’t worry. I’m here. As long as they are still breathing and not extremely old, I can always find a way to save them." She comforted Xie Yijun.
Li Yang approached them. "Miss, Brother Luo sent news. They are taking the night train to Shanghai. They will contact us when they arrive," Li Yang reported seriously.
"Okay," Zhu Yanyi nodded. "Tell Brother Luo to be careful. I have a feeling this trip to Shanghai won’t be simple. Someone might be waiting for us."
"Understood," Li Yang nodded.
Zhu Yanyi sat in the waiting area. It wasn’t boarding time yet. Xie Yijun leaned back and closed her eyes to sleep, as she hadn’t slept for several nights due to work.
Zhu Yanyi didn’t want to disturb her. She took out a book and started reading. Suddenly, someone walked up to her. She looked up and raised an eyebrow slightly. "What a coincidence."
"It is quite a coincidence," Silver Fox smiled and sat opposite her casually. "I’m going to Shanghai."
"Leaving this place behind?" Zhu Yanyi looked at Silver Fox. She didn’t believe he was just playing in Kyoto.
"Not really. Thanks to you and the Kyoto Venerable Yanluo, the Holy Child and Yin Mei are gone. I control the North for now. Shanghai was always my territory. It’s my job, so I must go. This trip is necessary," Silver Fox said calmly. They spoke like old friends, with no anger in their voices.
Zhu Yanyi smiled. "So you’re going to Shanghai. Does that mean you deliberately lured me there?"
"You could say that," Silver Fox smiled. "I lost to you a few years ago. I want to fight you again."
"So you used my relatives to test me," Zhu Yanyi said, then shook her head slightly. "You, Silver Fox, are not like Yin Mei. You wouldn’t do such a thing. I guess you have a traitor in Shanghai too." Zhu Yanyi looked a bit pleased.
Silver Fox smiled. "As expected of the Little Divine Doctor. Your intelligence is top-notch. So, since I’m here, guess what my purpose is?"
Zhu Yanyi looked at her. "Cooperation, or opposition?" She asked instead of answering.
"What if it’s cooperation? What if it’s opposition?" Silver Fox didn’t answer. He looked at her, as if seeking an answer.
Although their conversation was calm, people around them felt a strange tension, as if they might fight at any moment.
Zhu Yanyi wasn’t nervous. She took a bag of Azure Sovereign Qingdi cherries from her side, opened it, and placed it between them. She put one in her mouth. "If we cooperate, we need to agree on benefits. I don’t like doing business, but I don’t like losing either. If it’s opposition?" Zhu Yanyi smiled. "That’s simple. I’ll just feed you poison. I’m very proud of my poisoning skills."
"Poison?" Silver Fox’s elegant face showed a slight smile. He looked particularly gentle. He picked up a cherry with his left hand, stared at it for about three seconds, then put it in his mouth. He chewed the flesh, tasted the juice, and spat out the pit. He did it without hesitation, yet with great elegance, like a noble doing something meaningful.
"It’s quite delicious," Silver Fox said to Zhu Yanyi. "Do you have any unopened bags? Give me a few. I can eat them on the plane."
Zhu Yanyi raised an eyebrow, then handed her two bags. "You’re quite picky. I only brought five bags in total."
"Cooperation requires sincerity," Silver Fox said with a smile. "Especially when cooperating with you. I think I should trust you even more. Don’t you agree?"
Zhu Yanyi studied Silver Fox carefully. After a few years, he seemed deeper. She couldn’t tell what he would do next. But one thing was certain: in the short term, Silver Fox would not be her enemy.
"We will only cooperate in Shanghai," Zhu Yanyi said. The situation in Shanghai was unclear. She and Silver Fox were unlikely to be allies for long, but for this trip, they might make good partners.
"I will only cooperate with you in Shanghai," Silver Fox smiled. He checked the time. "It’s about time. I’ll board first. See you in Shanghai." Silver Fox stood up, took the two bags of cherries, and walked a few steps before adding, "By the way, don’t forget to share good food with me while I’m in Shanghai." He placed a business card in front of Zhu Yanyi. "This is my contact number." He acted as if he were going to Shanghai for tourism, not to handle business.
Silver Fox left the card and walked away gracefully. Lao Ma quickly followed him from a distance. "Boss, why do you want to cooperate with the Little Divine Doctor?"
"It’s fun," Silver Fox said arbitrarily, giving only three words.
"Weren’t you afraid she poisoned the cherry when you ate it?" Lao Ma didn’t understand why her boss was becoming so playful.
"Do you think Zhu Yanyi is like Yin Mei or those brainless Holy Children? She might show no mercy to enemies, but for now, she won’t harm me."
