Chapter 1469
Taishu Yuanxiang’s daily routine was simple: walking with Zhu Yanli and supervising her meals. When her phone rang, she was in the middle of feeding her bird’s nest soup.
Hearing the ring, Zhu Yanli snatched the spoon from his hand. “I told you I could eat by myself. Stop feeding me. Go answer the phone.”
Lately, Taishu Yuanxiang’s constant fussing made Zhu Yanli feel like he was the one pregnant, not her.
Taishu Yuanxiang grumbled about the bad timing, but his expression softened when he saw the caller ID. It was his sister-in-law. He couldn’t ignore it, nor could he get angry. He picked up, “Yanyi, what’s up? If it’s not urgent, I’m busy feeding your sister bird’s nest.”
This remark earned him a sharp, beautiful glare from Zhu Yanli.
“Brother-in-law, Jingyun is transferring to the capital. She needs a good middle school. Can you find one with high teaching quality?” Zhu Yanyi laughed lightly, trying to keep the mood easy. “If I knew you were feeding her, I wouldn’t have called. I could have asked my senior sister-in-law.” She tapped her head. “I forgot she’s the dean of a middle school. Sorry to bother you, Brother-in-law. I’ll go to her. You feed my sister. Next time I see her, I’ll praise you as a devoted husband and father.”
“Don’t talk nonsense in front of your sister, you little ancestor. I’ll handle the school matter.” Taishu Yuanxiang sighed. Dealing with this sister-in-law always left him at a disadvantage. “You called but didn’t say anything. I’m at a loss here.”
Most importantly, if his wife found out he had refused his sister-in-law’s request, he wouldn’t be allowed into their bedroom for a long time. Having such a sister-in-law was terrifying.
“I thought you were too busy caring for my sister to have time,” Zhu Yanyi said with a smile. Recently, after sending Heizi to Zhu Shun’ao, she had heard how much Taishu Yuanxiang doted on Zhu Yanli.
“Caring for your sister is my duty. She is my life.” she smiled. “For the school, Chunhui No. 1 Middle School in the capital is the best. I’ll make a call. Tomorrow, have Uncle Yijun take Jingyun and her documents there.”
With Taishu Yuanxiang’s connections, arranging a school was easy.
“Deal,” Zhu Yanyi said. “Someone sent me fresh blood bird’s nest recently. I’ll have Brother Luo deliver it tomorrow. Remember to cook it for my sister.”
“Sure. If you have more good health herbs, give me some. If my sister doesn’t use them, I will.” Taishu Yuanxiang extorted without limit.
“They’re for my sister. As for you, I have some monkey wine left from last time. I’ll bring a bottle tomorrow. That’s all.” Zhu Yanyi smiled.
“Your monkey wine was delicious,” Taishu Yuanxiang laughed. He had enjoyed it greatly, knowing such items were rare.
After hanging up, Zhu Yanyi told Xie Yijun. “Since that’s settled, Uncle Yijun, take Jingyun to Chunhui No. 1 Middle School tomorrow.”
“Okay. Please thank Yuanxiang for me. Once we settle in, we’ll treat your whole family to a meal.” Xie Yijun didn’t stand on ceremony. This concerned Jingyun’s future, and he had no time for pleasantries.
“We’ll all be there,” Zhu Yanyi smiled. Then she added, “Amu can rest and recover for a while. Maybe she can film a movie and win a Golden Rooster Award.”
“You think awards fall from the sky?” Ouyang Manqing laughed. They were finally stable.
Settling in the capital was difficult. Without connections, it was nearly impossible. It was the national capital, the heart of China. Making a living there wasn’t easy.
Zhu Yanyi had confidence in Xie Yijun. In her past life, she had become a legendary director. In this life, with her hard work, she likely would too.
“I’m confident in you and Amu Manqing,” Zhu Yanyi said with a smile.
“Flattery, flattery. With your confidence, we’ll work even harder. We don’t want to tarnish the reputation of our little divine doctor,” Xie Yijun joked.
Zhu Yanyi stuck out her tongue. She didn’t argue. They were family; they could speak openly.
After work, Zhu Yanyi drove home. Lately, she drove herself to practice, though six bodyguards rotated in the passenger seat to accompany her.
As she approached her house, she smelled food. She paused, noticing the male owner’s slippers were missing from the entrance. Her eyes lit up, and she went straight to the kitchen.
Indeed, Yan Aohan was wearing an apron, cooking.
“Aohan.” Joy filled her heart. She walked up behind her, hugged her, and rested her head on her back.
Yan Aohan smiled gently and patted her hand. “Be good. Get the bowls and chopsticks. Dinner is ready.”
Zhu Yanyi nodded, released her, smiled sweetly, and went to get the tableware.
Yan Aohan’s return made her heart soar. Lately, every night when she was quiet, she missed him. But she worried about disturbing his work, so she hadn’t contacted him.
Zhu Yanyi admitted that in love, she was just a little woman.
“Come, eat.” Yan Aohan brought the dishes out. Zhu Yanyi smelled them, served rice, and they began to eat.
“Delicious,” Zhu Yanyi nodded while eating. “While you were away, I almost got sick of eating noodles.”
“You ate noodles every day?” Yan Aohan frowned slightly. It seemed that without his supervision, Zhu Yanyi couldn’t take care of herself. It felt like their roles had reversed. He remembered her supervising him before; now he had to supervise her.
“Not exactly. Sometimes I cooked, but there was always too much. I couldn’t throw it away, so I ate fried rice the next day. After a long time, that got boring. So I just boiled noodles or made dumplings.”
