Chapter 1767
Yan Aohan looked at the Silver Fox, a hint of helpless amusement in his eyes. "To be honest, I do not agree with your actions. But understanding love is like drinking water; only the drinker knows if it is cold or warm."
The Silver Fox lowered his head. He knew his selfishness was heavy. It was not entirely his fault, for the Heavenly Fox Clan had always been selfish. He had never imagined how such heavy selfishness would end.
Yan Aohan glanced at him. He had made his point clear. Whether the other understood was not his concern.
"Alright, the soup is ready. Come and drink," Zhu Yanyi said with a smile. "I made ginseng soup. This ginseng is vegetable ginseng we grew ourselves. We usually cook with it, but it is best for soup now. I added some mushrooms and ham. It smells good and warms the stomach."
Old Master Yao came over. The four of them sat together. Zhu Yanyi took out folding cups and unfolded them into fist-sized shapes. Old Master Yao’s eyes lit up. "These cups are good."
"I specially designed them to be made," Zhu Yanyi said. She handed a cup to each person, ladled soup for them, and gave everyone a bamboo spoon.
"These folding cups do not take up space. They are easy to carry when folded," Old Master Yao praised, looking at the cup in his hand.
"Ani had them made specially for this reason," Yan Aohan said. "Do not let the bamboo material fool you. They took a lot of effort to make."
Looking at the cup, Old Master Yao had to admit it required skill.
"Some suggested I bring disposable folding cups. They are light and convenient. But I think disposables create garbage and hurt the environment. So I refused to use them. I had these made instead. Nowadays, most people in cities use disposables," Zhu Yanyi explained.
She knew the white pollution from disposable waste in her past life. It had even led to waste separation policies. If no one used disposables now, there would be much less garbage.
However, times change, and accidents happen. Even if Zhu Yanyi did not promote disposables, they would still appear. It was a symbol of progress.
"Can we brew some coffee later?" The Silver Fox looked at the cups and his cooking tools.
"No coffee powder. What would you brew?" Zhu Yanyi glanced at her.
"I have coffee," the Silver Fox said directly. "I have a pack in my backpack. I could not cook for days, so I did not drink any. My mouth is craving it."
"I really do not understand. You actually like coffee so much," Zhu Yanyi said with disgust. "What is good about that bitter taste?"
"You do not know how to enjoy life. Coffee is bitter at first, but the aftertaste is endless. It is like life. Bitter, yet fragrant," the Silver Fox explained with a grin.
Zhu Yanyi snorted. "I prefer the scent of tea. Tea can be bitter, but it also has sweetness. It does not need additives. It changes on its own. Life should be experienced by oneself, not influenced by outside things."
"Did you two plan this to bully me?" The Silver Fox paused. He had not expected Zhu Yanyi to say such things. It was exactly like what Yan Aohan had said.
Zhu Yanyi snorted coldly again but said nothing. Yan Aohan glanced at her lightly. "If you were not a friend, we would not bother bullying you."
Bullying a friend was a reminder and a warning. Life has five flavors. One must experience and think about them. Without experience, one will never understand where these flavors come from.
Coffee is good, but it cannot return sweetness. It is just finding joy in bitterness. Tea is light, but bitter first, then sweet. Life is like this. Only then is the journey worthwhile.
One cannot only think of the fragrance without understanding the price paid for it.
The Silver Fox had experienced much, but his background meant he did not fully understand some things. Naturally, he did not realize some matters were not as simple as he thought.
"This soup is delicious," Old Master Yao said, ignoring their topic. He took a sip and looked satisfied. "It has ginseng, lingzhi, ham, mushrooms, ginger, and garlic. It gives an indescribable lingering taste."
"Grandpa Yao, you have not eaten my cooking for years. Did you miss it?" Zhu Yanyi smiled and added another spoonful.
"Yes, I missed it," Old Master Yao laughed. "Old Chun and the others must be comfortable now." Thinking her old friends could eat Zhu Yanyi’s food anytime, she felt envious.
"Actually, Grandpa Chun and the others do not eat my cooking many times a year. I am busy every year. Either treating patients or researching things," Zhu Yanyi sighed. She squeezed out time to visit the elders each year.
"Great ability means great responsibility. You are a famous doctor at home and abroad. You must be careful with your medical skills," Old Master Yao said. He knew fame brought more pressure.
It was understandable. If someone was not famous, small mistakes were ignored. But once famous, small problems were magnified. Tiny issues became huge.
Old Master Yao had gone through this. That is why she spoke to Zhu Yanyi this way.
Zhu Yanyi smiled lightly. "I am used to it now. Besides, I think it is good. Since I am famous, no one challenges me anymore. I made it clear: if anyone challenges me, they must pay a deposit first."
"That method is good. Simple but effective," Old Master Yao nodded seriously.
"It smells so good." With this voice, a person appeared. His familiar face and kind expression were unchanged. If not for the black trench coat, one could not tell he had once been a monk.
"Godfather, you are here?" Yan Aohan smiled upon seeing him.
Zhu Yanyi was not surprised. "I was thinking of finding a chance for you to come. I did not expect you to come yourself. Please sit, Godfather. This is a wild mountain. There is nothing to eat. Just drink some soup to warm up."
