Chapter 1993

"Watch out! Run! Wasps are coming from behind!" cried a man trapped in a snare.

"Damn it! Who attacked me from behind?" shouted another, clutching a fresh wound.

"You bastard! Who is wasting water?" yelled a third, soaked by a water spell.

On this charming plain, different scenes of chaos played out constantly, except for three people.

These three were Hei Ru, Wu Shang, and Ruan Mengtuo.

Seeing their subordinates covered in dirt and defeat, they knew they had fallen into a trap. But standing there now, retreating was impossible.

"Hei Ru, long time no see." Gan Lang appeared, facing Hei Ru.

Hei Ru’s masked face hid his expression, but the black aura radiating from him showed his deep displeasure.

"Gan Lang, it has been ten years since we last met. I didn't expect to see you here again." Hei Ru’s voice sounded fake. Zhu Yanyi thought she had altered it to avoid recognition.

Of course, Zhu Yanyi was just guessing. As a member of the Dark Forest, returning to the light was impossible. Her black aura, though different from evil spirits, was still a bad sign.

"Hei Ru, you mask-wearing shameless man, why come to our Lucky Forest? Do you think we will welcome you? That is impossible." Zhu Yanyi noticed Gan Lang’s sharp tongue was quite formidable.

Hei Ru said coldly, "Gan Lang, enough talk. I am here to ask: where is the White Great Shaman’s clone?"

"The White Great Shaman has no clone. Who told you he has one? Don’t guess wildly." Gan Lang looked serious, as if telling the truth. "Our White Great Shaman is missing. He left no clone. Really, believe me, I do not lie."

If he stopped there, people might believe him. But his next words made Hei Ru, Wu Shang, and Ruan Mengtuo doubt him completely.

"Chief Gan is quite the actor," Zhu Yanyi whispered in praise.

The Elf Queen smiled satisfactorily. "Hei Ru is suspicious by nature. If Chief Gan lies, he might believe it. If he tells the truth, Hei Ru will doubt it. Now that Gan Lang says there is no clone, Hei Ru will not believe it."

"Gan Lang, you are a respected figure in Lucky Forest. Why lie to me? Do you think I know nothing? If the White Great Shaman is truly gone, who was the person that appeared months ago and taught a lesson to one of my Dark Forest disciples?" Hei Ru accused him directly.

Gan Lang sighed. "I am telling the truth. Please believe me. The White Great Shaman has no clone. As for that person, just assume it was someone else in disguise."

"Do you think I am stupid? How could a disguise summon such power and lightning?" Wu Shang retorted impatiently.

Gan Lang coughed. "That was a very coincidental event. We didn’t expect clear skies to produce lightning either." He looked genuinely surprised.

Hei Ru stared deeply at Gan Lang. "Gan Lang, we are old acquaintances. What is the point of deceiving us like this?"

Gan Lang looked at him seriously. "Hei Ru, we are old rivals. I am not deceiving you. I speak the truth."

Hei Ru still did not believe him. "Gan Lang, I have known you for years. How can you not even know how to lie?"

Gan Lang felt wronged. He had said so much, yet he still didn’t believe him. Was Gan Lang really a liar?

Gan Lang sighed. "Fine. If you don’t believe me, so be it. I have told the truth."

She added, "But we are old friends. Even if you don’t believe me, it doesn’t matter. I am happy to fight you. Come, Hei Ru, let us have a good battle."

Gan Lang prepared to attack. Hei Ru stepped back, watching him warily.

Gan Lang smiled lightly. "Hei Ru, why are you afraid? Don’t worry. Others will deal with the two behind you. Only I will fight you, as we are old friends."

Hei Ru narrowed his eyes. "Gan Lang, it seems you have a plan?"

Gan Lang laughed. "I am a rough man. What plan could I have? I am just excited to fight you. We have been rivals for so many years, haven’t we?"

His words left Hei Ru speechless.

In truth, Gan Lang had told the truth as a beastman, but Hei Ru simply wouldn’t believe it.

"Hei Ru is a fool. Doesn’t he know people in Lucky Forest never lie?" Mi Xiao said speechlessly.

Zhu Yanyi smiled. "As the old saying goes, you judge others by your own nature. Hei Ru always thinks Chief Gan is lying, which means her life is full of nothing but lies."

"I believe that. Probably because he lies too much, he dares not show his face, hence the mask," Gu Jun said.

Zhu Yanyi shrugged. "I don’t know. I don’t know Hei Ru." She smiled again. "Besides, we don’t need to know hypocritical people like Hei Ru."

Though she said she didn’t know, her words agreed with Gu Jun.

Hei Ru fought Gan Lang. Wu Shang and Ruan Mengtuo tried to advance but were blocked by two beastmen.

Whether using magic or close combat, the beastmen were strong. With elves assisting nearby, Lucky Forest was in no danger of losing.

Fighting Gan Lang, Hei Ru observed his surroundings. "You prepared for this long ago."

"Since we knew you intended to attack Lucky Forest, we have been preparing," Gan Lang said with particular pride.
