Chapter 2015

Zhu Yanyi considered that Sikong Xuran and the other two were visiting this plane for the first time, so she planned to take them home to visit Zhu Shun Yao and the others.

At the Zhu residence, Xie Xinlian received a large bag of pine pollen. "Only Ani loves eating stir-fried pine pollen in our family."

She sighed after speaking. "I wonder how the child is doing outside. I really worry she isn't eating well."

Zhu Shun Yao looked at the newspaper he had received early that morning. "Ani, aren't you worried? Among the three siblings, you should feel most at ease about Ani."

Xie Xinlian spoke directly. "I haven't felt at ease since the child left home. Also, I don't know how Doumiao is doing in her competition abroad."

"You are always so jumpy. I think all the children are doing fine. If you feel bored, you might as well let Ani bring the little monkey over to keep you company," Zhu Shun Yao joked.

Xie Xinlian glared at Zhu Shun Yao. "Is that how a grandfather should speak? Just waiting for the little monkey to come back for fun? That’s easy for you to say."

Zhu Shun Yao said helplessly, "What else can I do? Look at how worried you are. None of these things are serious." He looked at Xie Xinlian with a helpless expression.

Xie Xinlian knew her worries were trivial, but it was impossible not to worry. Children were flesh of her flesh. It would be strange if she didn’t care.

"I’m not talking to you anymore," Xie Xinlian said, unwilling to continue the conversation. "I’m going to check my clothing designs." She felt it was better to keep herself busy. Then, she took the pine pollen to hide it aside, planning to give it to Yan Aohan next time he came, so he could pass it to Zhu Yanyi.

Thinking of Yan Aohan, Xie Xinlian calculated. "Little Yan hasn’t been here for about a month."

"Little Yan is busier than Ani. Now he has to take care of Ani too, so he naturally doesn’t appear often," Zhu Shun Yao understood Yan Aohan.

"That’s true," Xie Xinlian said, just making conversation.

"Aohan, there are tsunamis and earthquakes in this plane. Shouldn’t there be deaths? Aren’t you busy?" In the car, Zhu Yanyi casually brought up a topic.

"Are tsunamis and earthquakes common in this plane?" Sikong Xuran asked curiously before Yan Aohan could answer.

"Not really. However, some places experience tsunamis, typhoons, and earthquakes every year. Such occurrences are rare in our Huaxia this year," Zhu Yanyi explained.

"Oh," Sikong Xuran said seriously. "The air in this plane has a bit of 'empty leak aura.' No wonder there are tsunamis and earthquakes."

"What is 'empty leak aura'?" Zhu Yanyi was curious and asked Sikong Xuran.

Sikong Xuran said, "Haven’t you felt it? The space of this plane seems to have a wind that doesn’t belong here. Because it’s foreign, this wind causes instability in the plane."

She paused. "For example, if you fill a bag with wind, but the bag leaks, the wind escapes. That’s a leak. The 'empty leak aura' works on a similar principle."

"We didn’t feel it." Zhu Yanyi, Yi Yunfei, and Ouyang Tianyun carefully sensed the air, then answered in unison, shaking their heads to show they really felt nothing.

"How could you not feel it? It’s so obvious," Sikong Xuran was frustrated.

Yan Aohan glanced at Sikong Xuran through the rearview mirror. "Could you have a spatial constitution?"

Sikong Xuran was stunned, then nodded slightly. "My constitution attribute is indeed spatial."

"That explains why you can feel it, but they cannot," Yan Aohan explained calmly. Then he said to Zhu Yanyi, "Sikong Xuran is right. This plane does have a problem. However, it’s not a major issue yet and can be resolved. You didn’t feel it because your constitutions are restricted. Sikong Xuran has a spatial constitution, so she clearly senses the plane’s abnormalities."

The three of them suddenly understood. Zhu Yanyi said, "So, the earthquakes and tsunamis now are caused by this 'empty leak aura'?"

Yan Aohan nodded. "It’s mostly due to this aura. Currently, it only causes occasional earthquakes, floods, or droughts in some areas."

"Isn’t that serious?" Zhu Yanyi frowned slightly.

Yan Aohan sighed. "Ani, have you heard of the Three Calamities and Nine Tribulations?"

Zhu Yanyi nodded slightly. "I’ve heard of it. But there are Buddhist and Daoist versions. I don’t know which one you mean."

"What are the Three Calamities and Nine Tribulations?" Zhu Yanyi said she knew, but Yi Yunfei suddenly asked, showing she didn’t understand.

Yan Aohan smiled slightly, gesturing for Zhu Yanyi to explain. Zhu Yanyi didn’t refuse and answered, "The Buddhist Three Calamities and Nine Tribulations are generally called the Three Calamities and Nine Crosses.

The Three Calamities are divided into Minor and Major. The Minor Three Calamities refer to weapons, plague, and famine.

The weapon calamity lasts seven days. The plague lasts seven months and seven days. The famine lasts up to seven years, seven months, and seven days.

The Major Three Calamities refer to fire, water, and wind. These don’t just affect one planet but the entire star system.

For example, if the Major Three Calamities occur here, not only will our planet suffer fire, water, and wind disasters, but nearby planets like Saturn and Mercury will too, leading to the destruction of the entire star system. That is the Major Three Calamities."

Zhu Yanyi took a bottle of Meng Po Soup, drank some, and continued, "The Buddhist Nine Tribulations are also called Nine Crosses. They refer to the nine disasters the Buddha encountered during her enlightenment and after.

The first is the slander by the Brahmin woman Sundari, which also slandered five hundred Arhats. The second is the Brahmin woman Jambala tying a wooden bowl to her belly to slander the Buddha. The third is Devadatta pushing a mountain to crush the Buddha, injuring her big toe. The fourth is a thorn piercing her foot. The fifth is King Virudhaka raising an army to kill the Shakyas, causing the Buddha a headache. The sixth is eating horse oats after accepting an invitation from the Brahman Agidatta. The seventh is back pain from cold wind. The eighth is six years of ascetic practice. The ninth is entering a Brahmin village, failing to get alms, and returning with an empty bowl.

This is what Buddhism calls the Three Calamities and Nine Tribulations."

Zhu Yanyi paused to catch her breath, then continued, "Besides the Buddhist version, there is also the Daoist Three Calamities and Nine Tribulations.

The Daoist Three Calamities don’t distinguish between minor and major. They refer to lightning, wind, and fire. The scope is similar to the Buddhist Major Three Calamities.

However, 'Three Calamities' generally refers to a mix of natural disasters. So, regardless of the version, the Three Calamities are often called natural disasters, while the Nine Tribulations are usually referred to as man-made disasters."
