Chapter 227: Tang Meiqin’s Breakdown
Elder Chun led Zhu Yanyi into a room. "This is a room set up just for you. From now on, when you come to Grandpa Chun’s place, you have a place to stay. It’s not just here; the other old men have also kept rooms for you at their homes. Your clothes are in the closet. Go try them on. Your Grandma Xu and the others bought them. We old guys divided them up and stored them. Hurry up and put them on. I’ll wait outside. If they don’t fit, I’ll make fun of their taste later."
"Okay." Zhu Yanyi smiled and nodded. She walked into the room, closed the door, and opened the closet. There were many clothes inside, in various colors. It was clear that Elder Chun and the grandmothers had put their hearts into it. Zhu Yanyi picked out a set of orange-red Tai Chi uniforms, changed into them, and walked out.
Elder Chun saw Zhu Yanyi and nodded with satisfaction. "Indeed, little girls look best in bright colors. This color suits you. It looks good."
Zhu Yanyi laughed. "Grandpa Chun, I don’t really care much about colors. I like anything that looks nice."
"Kids look better in bright colors," Elder Chun said. She led Zhu Yanyi to the outdoor training ground and said, "Do some warm-up exercises first. Then we’ll practice pushing hands."
Zhu Yanyi nodded and began her warm-up. She did leg kicks, splits, and bends. Then she started practicing forms. First Tai Chi, then Bagua, and then others. She went through several sets before stopping. Elder Chun stepped forward, and the master and disciple began pushing hands.
After a while, they stopped. Elder Chun laughed heartily. "Not bad, not bad. You haven’t neglected your martial arts in five years." Elder Chun was even more satisfied with his little disciple’s self-discipline.
Zhu Yanyi smiled and said, "This is good for keeping fit. How could I neglect it?" She picked up a towel from the side, handed one to Elder Chun, and wiped her own sweat. It had been a long time since she felt so refreshed.
Elder Chun finished wiping his sweat and threw the towel into a basin nearby. "Tonight, we agreed to go to Grandma Li’s house for dinner. Go rest for a bit. We’ll go to Grandma Li’s in the afternoon. For lunch, you’ll eat here with me."
"Okay." Zhu Yanyi nodded. She went inside to shower and change clothes. After coming out, she chatted with Elder Chun for a while before heading to the kitchen.
It had been five years since she cooked for her masters. Since she was here, she should show her filial piety.
Since it was just her and Elder Chun for lunch, Zhu Yanyi didn’t cook much. She made one braised fish, one tomato and egg drop soup, and a plate of stir-fried bean sprouts. Zhu Yanyi also took out the five-spice peanuts she had brought and arranged them on a plate.
Elder Chun ate the peanuts and sighed comfortably. "Five years. Finally, I’m eating something good."
The guard nearby was speechless. It sounded like Elder Chun hadn’t eaten anything in five years. Zhu Yanyi snorted and laughed. "Grandpa Chun, isn’t that a bit unfair to say? It sounds like you’ve been starving for five years."
Elder Chun glared at Zhu Yanyi. "What do you know? In the past five years, I wasn’t starving, but they weren’t cooking for me. My disciple wasn’t cooking. Could it taste good?"
"Come on," Zhu Yanyi said, looking like she saw through her flattery. "I can see right through you. Don’t worry. While I’m in the capital these days, if I have time, I’ll come cook for you all in turns."
"Why in turns? You don’t need to consider the other old men at all," Elder Chun said, acting like he didn’t care about the others.
"Grandpa Chun, would you dare say that in front of the other grandpas and grandmas?" Zhu Yanyi didn’t argue with him but asked directly instead.
