Chapter 271: The Approval Document Is Released
Gu Jingtian placed one hand on the charcoal stove, her eyes fixed on Old Madam Ouyang. One minute passed, then two. After about five minutes, she saw a white worm crawl out of Old Madam Ouyang’s nostril. It looked like a silkworm raised for only a month, but its eyes seemed brighter. It emerged slowly. When it was fully out, Gu Jingtian saw clearly that it had a pair of transparent small wings on its back. Zhu Yanyi quickly used tweezers to clamp the Qi-Sucking Gu. Gu Jingtian opened the lid of the charcoal stove, and Zhu Yanyi threw it in. A burnt smell appeared, and soon the Gu bug lost its life.
Seeing the Gu bug removed, Old Master Yao sighed in relief. He then began to slowly remove the needles. As he worked, Zhu Yanyi said to him, "Grandpa Yao, please insert a needle three inches from her dantian. Releasing the sealed essence will help replenish the body's losses."
Old Master Yao nodded. After removing the needles, she inserted a new one. With the removal and insertion of needles, Old Madam Ouyang’s heartbeat and breathing returned, and she opened her eyes.
When Old Master Yao removed the last needle, she said to Zhu Yanyi, "It is done. Let Comrade Tong Ying come in."
Zhu Yanyi nodded and opened the door. "Comrade Tong Ying, the acupuncture is finished."
Tong Ying rushed in. Seeing that her mother-in-law looked much more energetic, she knew the acupuncture was successful. She said to Old Master Yao, "Thank you, Old Master Yao."
Old Master Yao waved his hand. The acupuncture session had tired him a bit. "It is nothing. A doctor has a heart like a parent. As a healer, I must be responsible for my patients. You need not be so polite."
Tong Ying looked full of gratitude. Old Master Yao then turned to Gu Jingtian and Zhu Yanyi. "I am a bit tired after this session and need to rest. You two, senior brother and junior sister, should check on the patients in the other two wards. Jingtian, remember to tell the patient scheduled for surgery tomorrow about the key points."
The patients here were quite mysterious. No one ever asked who was staying here. This was mainly to prevent assassins from taking advantage of chaos. Although Huaxia was becoming stable, unstable elements still existed.
"Understood," Gu Jingtian agreed quickly and nodded.
"Shall I accompany Grandpa Yao back?" Zhu Yanyi asked, looking worried.
Old Master Yao patted Zhu Yanyi’s head. "It is fine. I am just a bit tired. I am over seventy, after all. I will go rest. Come find me after you finish your rounds." With that, Old Master Yao left.
Zhu Yanyi and Gu Jingtian tidied up, then bid farewell to Old Madam Ouyang and left. Their next stop was naturally Old Master Du’s room.
Old Master Du was not lying in bed today. He was standing by the window, stretching his arms for morning exercise. If one did not know he still had shrapnel in his body, one would think he had fully recovered.
"Grandpa Du looks in good spirits today," Zhu Yanyi said with a smile. A thermos sat on the bedside table, showing he had just finished breakfast.
"Eating your medicinal meals every day naturally makes me feel better," Old Master Du said, looking aggrieved. "Girl, can I secretly eat a piece of meat?"
"No," Zhu Yanyi shook her head firmly. She then stood on her tiptoes and patted Old Master Du’s back comfortingly. "Be good. After tomorrow’s surgery, when your body is better, you can eat meat."
Gu Jingtian almost laughed out loud at the sight. Old Master Du looked at Zhu Yanyi, both angry and amused. "You little smart cookie," she said, tapping Zhu Yanyi’s forehead. "Forget it. I have endured these days, so a few more days won’t matter."
