Chapter 2753
The presence of such an evil god stirred caution in the hearts of the Black Emperor and others. Unusual events always have a cause. This evil god did not inspire feelings of goodwill; instead, a chill rose in their hearts.
Naturally, the Black Emperor and his companions only observed the evil god for a moment. They did not keep their eyes on him constantly. They knew that if the evil god truly had malicious intent, his current demeanor must serve a specific purpose. Until they understood his true goal, the best course of action was to pretend not to see or know anything.
In fact, the evil god was watching the Black Emperor’s group just as closely.
When the evil god entered, he noticed the Black Emperor’s gaze lingering on him. He was not afraid. They could not read his thoughts. He merely wanted to see how they would deal with him. To his surprise, the Black Emperor and others only glanced at him briefly before ignoring him to greet the Ancient Emperor Xia.
This forced the evil god to admire the Black Emperor’s composure. Since they chose not to make things difficult for him at this moment, he was happy to relax.
Once it was confirmed that all the gods from the various universes had arrived, everyone took their seats in their designated areas.
This debate focused primarily on verbal discourse, so there was no need to leave one’s seat.
The Hua Emperor spoke first: "This debate among the gods concerns the Dao. I wonder what views everyone holds on the Dao. Please feel free to speak your minds."
"Let me speak first," said the Ling Emperor, one of the gods from the Primordial Universe.
"Please proceed, Ling Emperor," the Hua Emperor gestured invitingly.
"The Dao resides in the heart. Each of you has your own Dao. For instance, my Dao is Spirit. However, I recently discovered a conflict between the Spirit Dao and the Illusion Dao. It nearly caused me to lose control of my cultivation. Fortunately, our Huang Emperor was present and helped me through the crisis."
The Ling Emperor’s expression was grave. "For some time, I have pondered the difference between Spirit and Illusion, and why such an error occurred. I wish to share this with you all for your reference."
As the Ling Emperor finished speaking, those present fell into deep thought.
The Yun Emperor said, "Ling Emperor, every universe possesses its own three thousand Dao laws. Spirit is a Dao, and Illusion is also a Dao. The Dao of Spirit and Illusion can actually be unified. Spirit carries more of an aura of Qi, while Illusion carries more of a dreamlike quality. This is merely my humble opinion, but I hope it proves useful to you, Ling Emperor."
The Lei Emperor from the Yuan Yuan Universe added, "The Yun Emperor is correct. Both Spirit and Illusion are inherently intangible. I believe that the gods who control the Dao of Reincarnation in each universe would understand this better."
"If that is the case, I may offer some words," Yan Aohan spoke up.
"I cultivate the Dao of Reincarnation. I have even established a separate realm, the Yanluo Realm, within the Supreme Universe. This realm was created based on the various Underworlds. It encompasses not only the life and death cycle of humans, but also the reincarnation of all species across myriad planes, including the tribulations of soul reincarnation."
"Please instruct us, Yan Emperor," the Ling Emperor urged.
Yan Aohan said, "I am not well-versed in the Spirit Dao, but I know this: If the Heaven and Earth possess Spirit, and that Spirit transforms into a soul, it must inevitably return to the Yellow Springs, enter reincarnation, experience life and death, and be reborn anew. It becomes a species imbued with spiritual energy, whether human, animal, plant, or insect. All are manifestations of Spirit. Spirit itself has no hierarchy. What matters is the persistence of benevolent thoughts. Those with deep merit may be reborn as humans, becoming respected figures among spirits. Those with shallow merit may vanish into nothingness, waiting for an opportunity to regenerate. Regardless of the transition from life to death or death to life, the existence of Spirit serves only to infuse life with vitality. Transforming Spirit into Spirit is my understanding of the Spirit Dao. As for Illusion…"
Yan Aohan paused briefly, then continued, "That which lacks a realistic basis and is untrue is called Illusion. Strange transformations are also called Illusion. The purpose of Illusion is to confuse the human heart. It can make the Spirit more vibrant, but it can also render the Spirit unreal, causing all effort and time to vanish into nothingness. Those without mental stability should avoid Illusion. Those seeking to train their state of mind may approach it. At other times, it is unnecessary. Of course, this is merely my suggestion."
The Jiang Emperor, listening from the side, said, "I do not fully understand the distinction between Spirit and Illusion. However, after hearing the Yan Emperor’s words, I wonder if it can be interpreted that if Spirit wishes to advance further, it must sometimes undergo the test of Illusion."
Yan Aohan smiled. "I am not clear on the cultivation of the Spirit Dao, so this is merely my personal understanding."
After hearing the conversation between the Jiang Emperor and Yan Aohan, the Ling Emperor said, "I believe the Yan Emperor may be correct. I have been afraid to continue cultivating the Spirit Dao, originally fearing that I had developed a heart demon due to losing control. However, our Medical God examined me and found no issues. Now, hearing the Yan Emperor’s words, I feel that my Spirit Dao may have reached a bottleneck and requires a proper test by Illusion."
"That is a possibility. However, regardless, please prepare thoroughly for your next cultivation session. It is best to have a Medical God nearby," the Hua Emperor advised.
The Ling Emperor smiled gratefully. "Thank you for the reminder, Hua Emperor. I have noted this suggestion."
Indeed, although the current speculation pointed toward a positive outcome, speculation was not fact. Therefore, the Ling Emperor remained cautious.
"The Ling Emperor’s Spirit Dao issue likely stems from a cultivation bottleneck. My Dao, however, is not due to such a bottleneck," said the Light God from the Light Universe. "Recently, I have been researching how to break through the peak of the God Emperor stage to challenge the Dark Abyss and ascend to the rank of Emperor. However, I have found that my comprehension of Light seems complete. I have understood the form, power, and everything about Light. Now, there is no more Light for me to comprehend. Thus, breaking through the peak of the God Emperor stage has become a problem. I hope you all can offer some advice."
The Light God looked distressed. He had never imagined he would run out of things to comprehend. If there was no Dao left to understand, his path as the Light God would reach its limit. Breaking through would become an illusion, unless he dispersed his cultivation methods and started over. But the Light God was still young and did not wish to enter reincarnation so soon. Therefore, this debate among the gods was the perfect opportunity to ask this question.
The other gods were surprised by the Light God’s dilemma.
The Black Emperor listened and then said, "The Light God has comprehended everything about Light. So, what if there is no Light?"
