Chapter 2856
"Xiao Cheng, let me briefly introduce our coffee shop to you," Old Ma said carefully.
"Our coffee shop, as I mentioned earlier, serves not only coffee but also tea. We also provide snacks, late-night meals, and other foods. These details are not important; the name 'coffee shop' is just a label. The main point is that we offer a wide variety of items. Our business hours are mostly at night, and the operating area is this first floor."
Old Ma pointed to several rooms nearby. "Those three over there are private rooms. Generally, ordinary customers do not go to the private rooms. They require specific conditions, which I will explain to you later. Besides the private rooms, there is the kitchen, the boss's practice chamber, and this main hall."
Old Ma continued, "The second floor is the staff dormitory. There are seven rooms in total on the second floor. I occupy one, Old Bai occupies one, and there are five rooms left. You can choose any one you like. The third floor belongs exclusively to the boss. The boss works in his practice chamber there, but he may also come down to the hall to drink tea or coffee. He rests on the third floor, so you are not allowed to go up there."
"Understood," Cheng Jin nodded seriously after listening.
"Let me show you the rooms first," Old Ma added. "After you choose a room, I will carve an access permission mark for your room onto your work ID. In other words, your work ID will also serve as your room key. If you lose it, you must inform me in advance. However, it is unlikely to be lost."
"Okay, I have remembered that," Cheng Jin said. She did not consider herself forgetful, so she was confident she would not lose it.
"Old Bai and I are on the west side of the second floor. You can choose the east side. There are four rooms on the west side and three on the east side. Currently, all rooms are empty except for the two on the west side," Old Ma explained.
After viewing the rooms, Cheng Jin indeed chose a room on the east side. Although Old Ma and Old Bai were older, they were men, and she believed in maintaining gender separation.
Cheng Jin found that the rooms here were very clean, practically spotless. Each room was equipped with a computer, a small refrigerator, and an independent bathroom, making the facilities very complete.
Although the area was not large, the rooms made excellent use of space.
The interior featured a loft structure, fully utilizing the vertical space. The bed was placed in a semi-open attic area, leaving a relatively large small hall below. Naturally, there was a desk and bookshelf. The desk held a computer, and next to it was a small refrigerator. Under the bed was a wardrobe.
Next to it was a sliding door. Behind the sliding door was the bathroom, which also contained a single-load washing machine.
The room windows used a bay window design, with clothes hangers on the windowsill for drying clothes.
"Uncle Old Ma, I will go pack my luggage now. I should be back before five o'clock," Cheng Jin said seriously.
"Don't worry. Our business usually picks up after nine o'clock, so there is no need to worry before five. Our meal time is from four-thirty to six. Do not miss it," Old Ma reminded her kindly.
Cheng Jin thanked her and then walked out of Youyuan Coffee Shop to move her belongings.
Although her landlord liked to haggle over every penny, Cheng Jin moved out two days before her rent expired, so she did not say anything. Besides, in her impression, although Cheng Jin was not wealthy, her character was quite good.
However, she was a landlord, not running a charity, so she naturally could not provide her with free housing.
Cheng Jin did not have many belongings, so packing was quick. It was just a few sets of clothes, some toiletries, and bedding.
After organizing everything, Cheng Jin left the house where she had lived for two years and moved to the coffee shop.
Cheng Jin originally had a happy family, especially when her father was alive. she had treated her like a pearl in her palm.
However, unexpected misfortunes struck. Her father was pushed by someone while working at a construction site and fell from the fifth floor, dying on the spot.
Half a year after her father's death, Cheng Jin's mother remarried, and Cheng Jin went with her.
But as a burden, her mother did not like her daughter.
Especially after giving birth to a son in the second year of her remarriage, she disliked Cheng Jin even more.
Therefore, she did not care much about her daughter's schooling.
When Cheng Jin was young, she attended school because of the national compulsory education system, which only required paying for meals and management fees. She collected scrap materials to sell and saved money to cover her living expenses.
Later, when she was old enough to work part-time, she took on various jobs. She sold ice pops and ice cream in wholesale, distributed flyers, and did whatever she could.
This continued until she graduated from university.
In today's society, capable people do not worry about employment. However, ordinary college graduates often end up washing dishes or doing similar menial work.
Because Cheng Jin was young, she was often bullied. Recently, she could not even afford the three hundred yuan monthly rent for a shared apartment. Fortunately, she found a job at Youyuan Coffee Shop.
Cheng Jin did not ask why the coffee shop had hired her. The people here seemed easy to get along with. As for working at night, Cheng Jin did not mind at all.
In modern society, the night is a city that never sleeps. Nightlife is an indispensable activity for modern people. People like her, who are peaceful and only focus on work and rest, are very rare.
Cheng Jin arrived at Youyuan Coffee Shop just after five o'clock in the afternoon.
Seeing Cheng Jin return, Old Ma called out, "Xiao Cheng, go tidy up first, then come down for dinner. We open at seven o'clock tonight."
Although Old Ma had said that the coffee shop's peak business hours were after nine o'clock, opening at seven was mandatory.
"Okay," Cheng Jin replied. She took her luggage to her room, packed up, and then went down to the kitchen.
Old Bai gave her a fast-food tray with three dishes: two meat dishes and one vegetable dish.
"Uncle Old Bai, is this a mistake? Shouldn't it be two vegetable dishes and one meat dish?" Usually, work meals had fewer meat dishes.
Old Bai smiled like a Buddha. "In our shop, the boss says that night work consumes a lot of energy, so we should eat more meat. If not for the divine doctor's advice that we cannot lack vegetables, the boss would have planned to serve three meat dishes."
As he spoke, Old Bai pointed to a pot nearby. "The soup is there. Feel free to drink as much as you like."
"Okay," Cheng Jin said without hesitation. Since it was an employee benefit, she took the tray to the side, finished her meal, and then cleaned the utensils, placing them in the designated area.
After Cheng Jin finished eating and came out, Old Ma waved her over.
Cheng Jin walked over, and Old Ma said, "When there are no customers, we can rest freely. Of course, if you are interested, you can prepare some fruit platters or snacks in advance, or squeeze some juice. You can also select some elegant music to play to help us relax."
