Chapter 50: Stay Calm and Don’t Go Overboard

"Father, there are so many people. Do we really have to go see the fun?" Zhu Yanyi’s voice trembled slightly. She looked at the crowd with clear fear.

"Are you worried I can’t control you and your sister?" Zhu Shun Yao asked with a smile.

"No," Zhu Yanyi shook her head. "There are just too many people. It doesn’t feel like shopping. It feels like we are going to get crushed into flat cakes."

"Ani uses better words now," Zhu Shun Yao praised her.

Zhu Yanyi rolled her eyes inside her heart. That wasn’t the point. The point was the crowd. Going there would be suffering. She didn’t know if she should stop her father from suffering. But looking at her sister Zhu Yan Li’s eager face, her sister didn’t feel it was suffering. She felt it was fun. Indeed, being the only sober person while everyone else is drunk is very painful. Zhu Yanyi mocked herself in her heart.

"Ani, it’s so lively. Let’s go quickly," Zhu Yan Li said. She didn’t care what Zhu Yanyi was thinking. Seeing the excitement, she had longed for it.

Zhu Shun Yao looked at his two daughters. One wanted to go. The other seemed uninterested. He stayed silent and watched how the sisters would adjust themselves.

Zhu Yanyi sighed. "Okay, let’s go."

Zhu Shun Yao tapped her head lightly. "Why sigh at such a young age? Be careful you don’t sigh away your good luck."

Zhu Yanyi glanced at Zhu Shun Yao and pouted. "I don’t want to sigh. But thinking about becoming a flat cake makes me sigh."

"Still sighing? You are only five. You will be six after the New Year. What is there to sigh about? Your father is nearly forty, and I don’t even want to sigh."

Zhu Yanyi stuck out her tongue and blinked her eyes. Her expression was innocent and pure. Zhu Shun Yao was speechless. He had only one feeling: his little daughter was definitely a fox. He didn’t know whose personality she resembled.

"Haha, Shun Yao, is this your little daughter?" A voice came. Zhu Yanyi looked toward the sound. A man in her forties stood there. It was Cheng Baokun, the director of the food factory and soy sauce factory.

"Director Cheng, you are here for the market too?" Zhu Shun Yao greeted him with a smile. He rubbed the heads of Zhu Yan Li and Zhu Yanyi. "Call him Uncle Baokun."

"Hello, Uncle Baokun," Zhu Yan Li and Zhu Yanyi called out together.

Cheng Baokun laughed as he walked over. "You have it easy, Shun Yao. You have two obedient daughters. I have two noisy boys. They make trouble every day. The younger one insisted on coming out, so I brought him." Cheng Baokun pointed to a small child buying cotton candy nearby.

Zhu Yanyi knew this child was Cheng Chen, Cheng Baokun’s younger son. She would grow up to be a famous local rich man. But right now, she looked like a cute, mischievous boy.

Cheng Chen walked over with her cotton candy. She returned the extra money to Cheng Baokun. Then she looked at Zhu Yan Li and Zhu Yanyi, studying them. She had never seen them before and was curious who they were.

Cheng Baokun saw his son eating cotton candy while staring at the sisters. He tapped his son’s head. "Hurry up and greet them."

"Hello, Uncle Shun Yao," Cheng Chen said. He often played at the food factory, so he knew Zhu Shun Yao.

"Hello, Cheng Chen," Zhu Shun Yao smiled. "These are Uncle Shun Yao’s daughters. This is the older sister, Zhu Yan Li. This is the younger sister, Zhu Yanyi." Then he turned to Zhu Yan Li and Zhu Yanyi. "This is Uncle Baokun’s son, Cheng Chen. An Li, call him younger brother. Ani, call him older brother."
