Chapter 7: A Fool's Fortune
Lock it with spiritual power? How to lock it? Zhu Yanyi did not understand. Recalling the tales of cultivation she had read in the past, Zhu Yanyi blinked, picked up the chain, and tapped it against her forehead. She saw the chain directly enter her spiritual mind. "What spiritual sense? I do not understand," Zhu Yanyi said, looking entirely innocent. "You said to lock it with spiritual power, which I cannot do. However, when I was alive, I read many tales of cultivation. They wrote that by tapping one's forehead with a secret manual or jade slip, one could absorb the knowledge within. I simply wanted to try it, and it entered my mind. Has something gone wrong with my head?" It was hard enough to be reborn; if her mind were to break, it would be a great trouble.
What was this? A fool's fortune! Venerable Yanluo sighed inwardly: "There will be no problem. In fact, you have benefited greatly. Had you locked it with mere spiritual power, you could only use it for one lifetime. Once you died after your rebirth, it would return here. But now that you have used your spiritual sense, and it has accepted this method, it means it will follow you through all future lives. In other words, no matter how many times you reincarnate, it will accompany you."
"So, I have accidentally gained a secret boon," Zhu Yanyi thought. She had not expected such an effect. Though she did not know exactly what the chain contained, judging by Venerable Yanluo's tone, it was at least a spatial domain. "Rest assured," Zhu Yanyi smiled. "I have no grand ambitions. I lack the ability to change the world. My only hope is for my family and loved ones to enjoy health and long life, and for myself to find a compatible partner, so I may live a complete life."
Hearing Zhu Yanyi's words, Venerable Yanluo did not argue further. Whether she would change the world was hard to say now. His current task was merely to see her off. He waved his hand, and an oval vortex appeared before Zhu Yanyi: "Step inside. Do not resist the pressure within; it will carry you to the proper era."
Zhu Yanyi nodded, waved to Venerable Yanluo and the Judge, and said: "Thank you, Venerable Yanluo and Judge. Farewell. I shall return in a few decades, and I will bring you delicacies then." With that, she stepped cheerfully into the oval vortex. As she entered, the vortex gradually shrank, and finally vanished without a trace.
"Finally, the most troublesome matter is settled." The Judge exhaled in relief, glad that Zhu Yanyi was easy to communicate with. Had she been difficult, they would not have known how to handle her.
Venerable Yanluo glanced at the Judge: "Tell the others to be more careful in their duties from now on. Fortunately, this one was reasonable."
